A Look at the QB Room
The Cowboy quarterback room features a trio of players with collegiate experience in Tyler Hughes, Landon Sims and Mason Drube, who are joined by freshmen Taylor Hasselbeck and Tyler Franklin.

Hughes comes to Wyoming after spending four seasons at William & Mary. He earned Third Team All-CAA honors. He was the first quarterback in school history to pass for over 2,000 yards and rush for over 600.  In 2025, Hughes threw for 2,330 yards completing 66 percent of his passes with 20 touchdowns and only three interceptions. He also rushed for 670 yards with 11 touchdowns. He was 22-of-33 passing for a career-high 296 yards against Charleston Southern throwing four touchdowns. He threw for a career-high five scores against Hampton.

Sims appeared in five games for the Cowboys before missing the rest of the season with an injury but is back for fall camp. He finished the season 6-of-8 passing for 38 yards with one touchdown. He also rushed for 97 yards on 15 carries with a score. He earned a rushing touchdown for the Cowboys in the win over Colorado State. He threw for 23 passing yards against Northern Iowa and had a career-high 52 rushing yards at San Diego State, which included a career long 37-yard rush. 

Drube maintained his redshirt appearing in three games as a true freshman including a start against Hawaii in the season finale. He finished the season 20-of-38 passing for 187 yards. He was 17-of-32 passing against Hawaii for 179 yards. He recorded a long pass of 23 yards in that contest and also recorded a career long rush in the contest, which was also 23 yards. He completed two passes at Fresno State and had a completion against Nevada.

Hasselbeck suffered an injury during the summer and will miss the 2026 season. He was listed as a three-star recruit by 247Sports.com. He was listed as a three-star recruit by Rivals. He has helped lead Enswoth High School to become one of the top teams in Tennessee. Franklin joined the program late in the summer. He was ranked as a three-star recruit by 247Sports.com. He threw for 4, 831 yards in his career with 47 career touchdown passes. He completed 60 percent of his passes for his career and also rushed for over 500 career yards.
