FARGO, North Dakota (7/16/26) – The University of Wyoming wrestling team's representatives did a whale of a job at the 2026 Junior Nationals in Fargo, North Dakota.
Austin Collins (150) earned a pair of All-American honors, while
Sammy Sanchez (132) won a couple of matches, as well, inside the Fargodome.
Collins went 6-2 in the Freestyle bracket en route to a fourth-place finish. He won his first four bouts by a 10-0 technical fall each time. After being defeated in the semifinals, Collins bounced back with a decision in the consolation semifinals prior to dropping his third-place bout.
Collins one-upped himself in the Greco-Roman division. He went 8-1 and took third. Collins won his first four bouts via technical fall. He fell in the quarterfinals but rebounded with four more wins, all of which were via technical fall.
Sanchez went 2-2 in his Freestyle Bracket. He fell in his first match, but rallied for two straight wins, one by fall and one by technical fall, prior to dropping a match, which ended his run.
Sanchez couldn't find success in the Greco-Roman competition. He lost twice and was eliminated.
Both Collins and Sanchez will begin their Wyoming wrestling careers this fall.
