Solomon Holden-Betts conclude their seasons at the NCAA West First Round, Friday.
Holtzen will return to the NCAA Championships after winning his heat of the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Running out of heat three, he crossed the line with a time of 8:36.81 to pick up the big "Q" with the 11th best time at the west regional. The senior from Idaho Falls, Idaho, slowly pushed to second place and made his move into first just before the final water jump.
Holden-Betts also ran in the 3,000-meter steeplechase from heat two but only ran past the 1,800-meter mark before bowing out. In his first season in the Brown and Gold, he posted the fourth-best steeplechase time in school history.
White wrapped one of the best distance careers Wyoming has ever seen after taking 19th in heat one and 40th overall in the 5,000 meters. He stayed with the main pack for half of the race before falling behind some of the most elite runners in NCAA history. Ultimately, he crossed the line for the last time as a Cowboy with a time of 14:32.11. The Littleton, Colo., native left his mark on the track & field and cross country programs by setting seven school records.
