CLOVIS, Calif. (May 14, 2026) – Junior
Eowyn Dalbec picked up four team points for the Cowgirls to highlight day one of the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Thursday.
COWGIRLS
Freshman
Desirae Iacovetto kicked off the championship for Wyoming with the first four events of the Heptathlon. To start, she ran in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.41 for fifth and 921 points. She then took on the high jump, where she cleared 1.46 meters on her first attempt at the height for ninth and 577 points.
Iacovetto needed to make up some points in the shot put took on the challenge head-on. She threw a personal best of 12.10 meters, 1.26 meters further than her previous best, for third. This mark, one of only three to break the 11-meter-mark, added 668 points to her total. The fourth and final event of the day for the freshman from Wheatland, Wyo., was the 200-meter dash. She placed fourth with a time of 25.18. With an additional 870 points, she sits in sixth with 3.036 points heading into day two.
Junior
Eowyn Dalbec closed the Cowgirls' night by posting the first points of the championship for Wyoming. In the 10,000 meters, she placed fifth with a time of 35:02.72. She fought herself up from her group and added four team points.
Senior
Marina Trave would take ninth in the 10,000 meters at 35:40.26, just out of scoring position.
In the 800-meter prelim, sophomore
Julia Rudolph earned the Pokes first finals spot. She finished ninth overall at 2:09.68, just off her personal best with altitude conversions. Rudolph will now prepare for Saturday's 800-meter final set for 8:15 p.m. MT.
Two more Cowgirls competed in the 800 meters: senior
Libby Berryhill and sophomore
Hanan Aldelemy. In what became her final collegiate race, Berryhill placed 16th with a time of 2:11.19, her best finish since April at the Jerry Quiller Classic. Aldelemy crossed the line 19th at 1:12.15. She will race again in the 5,000 meters on Saturday night.
Junior
Gabbreiella Mendoza-Molina was less than half a second out from making the finals in the 400-meter hurdles. With a time of 1:00.74, she placed 10th to close her season as an individual.
Sophomore
Carly Norman crossed the line with a time of 1:02.18 for 15th overall, her second-best run of the season. The final Cowgirl in the 400 hurdles was freshman
Payton Becker. She ran a time of 1:03.93 for 21st. All three are under consideration to run the 4x400-meter relay on Saturday.
COWBOYS
Senior
Tristan Knueppel kicked off the Cowboys' day with the 800-meter run. In the prelims, he placed 19th with a time of 1:56.33 in his final collegiate race.
Freshman
Ryan Elsen led the way for Wyoming in the 200 meters. He just missed the finals cut in 10th with a time of 21.41. He was followed by sophomore
Bridger Norton in 15th at 21.55. The pair is slated to compete in the 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relays on Saturday.
In the final event of the night, junior
Aidan Ramsey placed 13th in the 10,000 meters. He finished 25 laps around the track in 31:46.74, his first 10k in the Brown and Gold.
UP NEXT
Day two of the Mountain West Outdoor Championships will begin tomorrow at 11:20 a.m. MT with the final three events of the Heptathlon. Wyoming will then see action in the field with the men's long jump at 5 p.m. MT while running events begin at 6:30 p.m. MT.
