LARAMIE, Wyoming (5/1/26) – The University of Wyoming soccer team wrapped up its spring soccer season this past week. The Cowgirls are excited about the improvements they made, as they turn their attention to summer and the ensuing 2026 fall season.
"This team grew so much from an on-the-field perspective, as well as off the field,"
Haley Bartel said. "Everyone is so excited and ready to compete in the fall and show off all of our hard work to this point."
The spring saw Wyoming compete in several different tournaments and types of matches both at home and on the road. The Cowgirls participated in an 8v8 Tournament in Fort Collins, and they had numerous weekends where they played multiple teams in a single day.
"Spring is such an important time for development and getting the entire roster playing time," head coach
Josh Purdum said. "To see our depth improve and more players contributing to scoring goals, we feel a bit more confident going into the fall. Our goal is always to improve through challenges, and we've shown that we can do that against very good competition. I'm excited to see how we can continue this positive trajectory into the 2026 season."
Speaking of scoring, the Pokes netted 24 goals during their 505 minutes of spring ball. They also held their opponents at bay, allowing just seven scores against.
Both of those areas were on display and humming early on in March. The Cowgirls claimed the title at Colorado State's 8v8 Tournament. The field included the Rams, Colorado College, Air Force, Northern Colorado and Denver.
"Winning the 8v8 Tournament really set the tone for the spring,"
Alyssa Glover said. "We have put a huge emphasis on competing and winning in everything we do this spring, and I think that really showed up in the tournament in every game."
Wyoming now turns its attention to summer workouts and its report date in July. The 2026 regular season gets underway Aug. 13 with a match against Drake in Laramie.
