GOLDEN, Colo. (April 8, 2026) – Pokes add a big school record in the men's 4x100-meter relay to start the week at Colorado School of Mines, Wednesday.

COWBOYS
In the 100-meter dash, three Cowboys finished in the Top 5, with two going 1-2. Freshman Ryan Elsen won the event with a time of 10.51, tied for his personal best set last weekend. Senior Carter McComb crossed the line second at 10.75, his season best. Finally, senior Gavin Cougle placed fifth with a time of 10.93.

These three Cowboys were joined by sophomore Bridger Norton as the only finishers in the 4x100-meter relay. Their time of 40.12 broke the school record by over 0.40 seconds. The previous time of 40.54 was run in 2000 and 2010.

COWGIRLS
Senior Faith Jehu would take fourth in the 100 meters with a time of 12.61. She was followed by sophomore Melody ZumBrunnen in seventh. She crossed the line at 12.74, a season best.

In the 400 meters, sophomore Lily Nichols crossed the line 12th with a time of 1:01.40. This was Nichols' first collegiate 400-meter race.

Three Cowgirls raced in the 400-meter hurdles. In fourth, junior Gabbreiella Mendoza-Molina led the way for Wyoming with a time of 1:00.53, a personal best. Sophomore Carly Norman also ran a personal-best time of 1:02.53 for fifth. Freshman Payton Becker ran her first 400 hurdles and placed sixth with a time of 1:03.71.

ZumBrunnen also competed in the long jump and placed eighth. Her first jump of 5.41 meters ended up being her best and a season best.

After one day and four events of the heptathlon, freshman Desirae Iacovetto owns a total of 2,924 points for second. She finished with times of 14.46 in the 100-meter hurdles and 25.30 in the 200 meters, and marks of 1.45 meters in the high jump and 10.84 meters in the shot put, all personal bests excluding the high jump.
