GOLDEN, Colo. (April 11, 2026) – Wyoming shot putters closed the weekend with season and career best throws in Golden, Colo., at the Mines Kit Mayer Classic, Saturday.

COWBOYS
Senior Cam Burkett had a massive performance in the shot put. He won the event, his second in a row in the outdoor season, with a toss of 19.34 meters, a personal best. He reached his best put on his third attempt and was the only competitor to break the 19-meter mark. This becomes the new No. 4 mark in outdoor program history and lands Burkett at No. 8 in the nation this season.

COWGIRLS
On Thursday, freshman Desirae Iacovetto finished out her final three events in the heptathlon at the Mines Midweek and Multis. She placed fourth in the standings with 4,365 points, the No. 8 point total in program history.

In the women's shot put, two Cowgirls, freshmen Jade West and Teagan Becker, finished in the Top 4. West threw to third with her best put landing at 14.38 meters, her best in the outdoor season. This came on her fourth put and was one of only three to reach 14 meters. Becker placed fourth with her best throw reaching a distance of 13.78 meters. This matched her career-best put set at the Colorado Classic on her final attempt.

UP NEXT
The Cowboys and Cowgirls will travel to California for three meets next week. From Thursday to Saturday, they will compete at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., and the Pacific Coast Invitational in Long Beach, Calif.
