ATLANTA (March 27, 2026) – Senior
Alex Metzler swam in the 500-yard Freestyle at his final NCAA Championships, Friday.
"We were super happy that Alex was able to make it here," said assistant coach
Jonathan Reeder. "He had one really big goal in mind of getting the team to NCAAs for the first time in a long time."
Metzler finished his second of two events at the championship with his performance in the 500 Free. With a time of 4:22.13 in heat two, he placed 45th overall.
This is the second appearance in the 500 Free for the Regensburg, Germany native. In 2024, Metzler would take 37th in the event while also swimming in the 400-yard IM, 1,650-yard Freestyle and 800-yard Freestyle Relay.
"The fact that he was able to come in, in just a short time, and make such a big impact is something really special," said Reeder.
"We couldn't be prouder of him."
This championship, Metzler also finished 35th in the 400 IM, touching the wall at 3:47.18.
