ATLANTA (March 19, 2026) – Senior
Alicia Gonzalez and junior
Tara Joyce competed in their first of two days at the NCAA Championships, Thursday.
Head coach
Dave Denniston said, "Tara and Ali are both officially NCAA competitors for Wyoming. The teams and coaches have taken notice of the Wyoming Cowgirls' presence, and the overall support has been fantastic."
In the 200-yard Freestyle prelims, Joyce would swim a time of 1:46.84 for 42nd overall. Her time would have been good for No. 3 in Cowgirl history if Joyce hadn't held the 200 Free school record. She will swim one more time in the 100-yard Freestyle on Saturday.
Gonzalez earned her chance to dive in the 1-Meter with her bid in the 3-Meter at zones. In the 1-Meter prelims, she finished 49th with a score of 215.25.
"They both have one more event to compete in, and it will be great to see them repping the Brown and Gold again," Denniston said.
UP NEXT
Gonzalez will have the day to herself tomorrow in the 3-Meter dive, starting at 8 a.m. MT.
