Alicia Gonzalez qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 3-Meter Dive on day two of the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships, Tuesday.
WOMEN'S 3-METER DIVE
"Ali did such an amazing job today," said head diving coach
Mark Murdock. "She pulled a 30-point comeback during finals to snag the final NCAA spot on the 3-meter."
After just squeaking into the 3-Meter final in 17th and a score of 268.70, Gonzalez would jump all the way to seventh to earn the final qualifying spot and punch her ticket to Atlanta. She finished with a point total of 584.60 to end her time at zones.
Murdock added, "To top it all off, it's her birthday! What a great present to enjoy."
Gonzalez becomes the first diver to represent Wyoming at NCAAs since 2022, when Melissa Mirafuentes competed in the 3-Meter and Platform dives. She will join five swimmers, a program best, in Atlanta for the championships.
MEN'S PLATFORM DIVE
Sophomore
Kael Kropf was the lone Cowboy who qualified for Zones in the platform dive. In the prelims, he scored 277.65 points for 24th to end his day.
