LARAMIE, Wyo. (Feb. 8, 2026) – The Wyoming Cowgirls got back to winning Sunday afternoon as they closed their home-opening weekend with a 5-2 victory over Idaho State. With the win, the Cowgirls move to 5-3 on the young season.
Wyoming rallied to open the match to win a hotly-contested Double Point Sunday. At No. 1, the team of Silver Bijlsma and Dilnaz Mashabayeva came back to win a tiebreaker to clinch the point for the Cowgirls. The duo won 7-6 (7-4) after falling behind 5-4 in the contest. At the No. 2 doubles spot, Eugenia Ceinos and Madlena Orlova also got a win for the Brown & Gold, taking their matchup, 6-3.
In singles, the Cowgirls won 5-of-6 contests with Bijlsma clinching the dual in singles as well. Unlike in Saturday's loss, Sunday, Wyoming rallied to win three three-set contests in singles play. At No. 1, Anastasiia Kochelaevskaia rallied to win 4-6, 6-1 and 6-4. At the second spot, Bijlsma dropped her first set 4-6 and then stormed all the way back to win 7-6 (7-4) and 6-2. At No. 5, it was Mashabayeva who split the first two sets, 5-7 and 6-3 and then one the third-set super set 10-8. Ceinos earned Wyoming's lone straight-sets victory as she won at No. 4, 7-5 and 6-2.
The Cowgirls have one more weekend of non-conference play and are off for a couple of weeks before traveling to South Dakota for a pair of neutral-site duals in Sioux Falls. UW will face South Dakota February 20 and Northern Iowa on the 21st.
