BOULDER, Colo. (Feb. 6, 2026) – Senior thrower Cam Burkett won his third shot put event in a row to highlight the Wyoming throws squad on day one of the Colorado Classic, Friday.

In the men's shot put, all three Cowboys finished in the Top 4, with senior Cam Burkett winning his third meet in a row. Burkett finished with a top put of 18.70 meters coming on his third throw. He was the only competitor to throw over 18 meters in the event.

Sophomore Charles LaFore finished right behind Burkett in second with his best mark at 17.48 meters. This is LaFore's personal best in the shot put, doing so on his final attempt.

Sophomore Quinn Lindsay rounded out the Cowboys in the shot put with his fourth-place put of 16.54 meters. He moved up to fourth on his second and final fair attempt.

Junior Kais Kimuli was the top finisher for Wyoming in the women's weight throw. She threw to 16.35 meters on her second attempt, holding off the competition throughout the finals.

Freshman Jade West made the finals and took ninth overall with her best throw reaching 16.01 meters. West's top throw came on her first attempt to get into the Top 9 final.

Kimuli also led the Cowgirls in the shot put, where she finished fourth with a put of 14.13 meters. She jumped into fourth after throwing over 14 meters for the first time at the meet on her last attempt.

Sophomore Teagan Becker began her action on the day with a sixth-place finish of 13.78 meters in the shot put. She also peaked on her last attempt with a personal best mark.

West would round out the Cowgirls' day, finishing seventh in shot put with a mark of 13.57 meters.

The final event on the day for Wyoming was the men's weight throw. LaFore would finish seventh to lead the Pokes with a throw of 18.69 meters on his second and only fair toss.

Freshman Ayden Mills missed out on the finals but still posted a major personal best of 17.32 meters. He threw at least 17 meters on all his fair attempts.
