PHARR, Texas (Feb. 25, 2026) – The 800-yard Freestyle Relay won the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation title while two divers made the "A" final on day one of the MPSF Swimming and Diving Championships, Wednesday.

"The relays really shined with the 800 Free winning with a school and pool record," said head coach Dave Denniston. "We are in a good place and should be feeling like the team to beat.

800-YARD FREESTYLE RELAY
The Cowboy 800-yard Freestyle Relay of senior Alex Metzler, junior Simon Casey, junior Adam Pannell and senior Caleb Ozenne swam a school record time for the MPSF title. With Metzler on leadoff, the Pokes never gave up the lead, even as Air Force closed in on the last leg, for a time of 6:21.31. This time breaks the school record set in 2014, the pool record and added 40 team points for Wyoming.

200-YARD MEDLEY RELAY
In the 200-yard Medley Relay, the relay of junior Simon Casey, junior Griffith Orloff, sophomore Edward Rhoe and sophomore Luke O'Connor finished in second before being disqualified for an early takeoff.

"While the 200 Medley Relay DQed, they still all swam incredible races. I know how Luke feels, said Denniston. "As a swimmer at Auburn, I DQed a relay on the first day of the SEC championships. We then went on to win the meet by over 200 points. We are going to be O.K."

Simon would swim 21.74 while Orloff swam 23.59, Rhoe at 21.13 and O'Connor at 18.90.

3-METER DIVING
Denniston added, "The divers did well, making being O.K. that much better."

Sophomore Kael Kropf led Wyoming in the championship final with a fifth-place finish of 350.10 points in the 3-Meter. He made the final with the second-best score of 375.85 in the prelims, the new No. 3 point total in program history.

Also, in the "A" final, junior Bruno Grau took eighth with a score of 313.95, a season best. He improved his score from his prelims score of 302.00, which brought him to sixth.

Two other Cowboys dove in the 3-Meter and made the consolation final. Sophomore Jonah Mann placed second, 10th overall, with a score of 276.60 while freshman Connor Liddle took fourth and 12th overall with 261.35 points.

"Good first day for the guys and nice seeing two get up into the 'A' final," said head diving coach Mark Murdock. "Bruno did really well, finishing up the day as Kael looked really nice with a PR."

The Cowboy divers added 37 team points.
