BOISE, Idaho (Feb. 24, 2026) – The Wyoming Cowboys could not overcome a late first half run by Boise State in a 72-62 loss to the Broncos inside ExtraMile Arena in Boise, Idaho on Tuesday evening. The Cowboys led by as many as seven-points in the opening frame but went over two minutes without a basket to close the first half.

"Players play and tough players win and our attention on defense lacked a bit tonight," UW head coach Sundance Wicks said. "The guys battled and we were right there but at the end of the day you have to rebound on the road. We gave them loud buckets late in the second half and they were soft buckets that gave them energy. That gave Boise State some juice and that is what we did at Grand Canyon. We have to be tougher down the stretch."

The Cowboys were led by Damarion Dennis with 16 points for his 14th game this season in double-figures and the 20th of his collegiate career. Nasir (Naz) Meyer added 12 points for his 19th game in double-figures this season. He also added a team-high seven rebounds. Khaden Bennett added nine points in the contest

Wyoming shot 42 from the field in the contest and were held to 27 percent from behind the arc with seven makes. Boise State shot 47 percent and were 24 percent from behind the arc with five makes. Boise State dominated the glass with a 35-23 advantage on the night. With 10 offensive rebounds.

Dennis led the Pokes early with a three-pointer and a slam with the Pokes taking an early 11-10 lead. The Pokes made 4-of-5 attempts from the field after opening 1-of-4 from the field. The Pokes held the Broncos without a basket for nearly four minutes taking a 16-10 lead.

Boise State made three-straight baskets and cut the Pokes lead to 22-19 with five minutes left in the first half. But Uriyah Rojas added his second triple of the game for a 25-19 lead. Simm-Marten Saadi knocked down his first triple of the game, as Wyoming pushed the lead to 28-22 with three minutes left in the first frame.

Turnovers would haunt the Cowboys in the closing 90 seconds of the first half with the Broncos going on a 9-0 run including a banked three pointer, as Boise State took a 32-30 lead into the half. The Pokes were held scoreless over the last two-plus minutes of the second half.

After Bennett tied the game to open the second half, Boise State went on a 5-0 led by Javan Buchanan for a 37-32 lead. The Pokes would allow a 6-0 run by the Broncos, as Boise held a 10-point lead at 45-35 with 15 minutes left. The Pokes responded with threes from Bennett and Dennis for a 45-41 game with just under 14 minutes left.

Wyoming ended up holding Boise State without a field goal for nearly four minutes making it a two-point game with under 12 minutes left, but a three from the Broncos pushed the lead to 50-45 with 11 minutes remaining and added another triple for a 53-45 game with 10 minutes left.

The Pokes went without a field goal for nearly four minutes with the Broncos building a 56-47 lead, but a shot clock beating jumper by Meyer and a triple from Saadi made it a 56-52 game with under seven minutes remaining.

The offensive glass would haunt the Cowboys with the Broncos building the lead back to 10 points at 64-54 with just under four minutes left. The Pokes made back-to-back buckets for a six-point game with under a minute left, but Boise State closed the game out the line.
