FORT COLLINS, Colo. (Feb. 14, 2026) – The Cowboys went scoreless for over four minutes in the final 10 minutes of the contest and could not overcome a surge from Colorado State in 79-68 road loss on Saturday afternoon inside Moby Arena in Fort Collins, Colo. It marks a season split this season in the annual Border War.

"31 minutes of really good basketball and trusting your teammates and nine minutes to go we got soft and selfish," UW head coach Sundance wicks said. "CSU stuck with the gameplan down the stretch and we didn't. We need to look for each other when times get tough. We took care of the basketball, and the shot selection late was not great."

The Rams shot 62 percent from the field and were 25-of-30 from the free throw line. Wyoming shot 41 percent and hit nine threes but were held to 32 percent from the field in the second half. Colorado State won the battle on the glass 30-27.

Wyoming was led in scoring by Damarion Dennis with 21 points for his second-straight game with 20 or more points as he tied a career-high. Khaden Bennett added 13 points for his fourth-straight game with 10 or more points. He also led the team with nine rebounds.  Nasir (Naz) Meyer added 12 points with Leland Walker adding 11.

The Rams hit their first two threes attempts of the game and added a pair of free throws for an early 8-2 lead. Bennett and Walker added buckets for an 8-6 game with 17 minutes left in the first half. The Pokes would take an 11-10 lead on a Dennis putback on an offensive rebound. The teams traded threes for a 14-13 game for Wyoming with 13 minutes left in the first frame.

Bennett followed by an inbounds steal for a bucket from Dennis gave Wyoming a 18-13 lead, but Colorado State added a three seconds later. Colorado State later went on a 6-0 run for a 22-20 led with under 10 minutes left in the first frame.

Bennett added a couple of threes followed by a tough jumper from Meyer for a 30-25 game with six minutes left in the first half. Dennis would take over again with three-straight baskets as part of a 14-2 run as UW made it a 36-27 game with four minutes left in the first frame.

The Rams added an 8-1 run that was halted by a three from Adam Harakow with the Pokes taking a 40-37 lead into the half. Both teams shot over 50 percent from the field in the half and added five three pointers.

The Rams took a 41-40 lead in the early goings of the second half, but Meyer and Bennett added threes for a 46-41 with 18 minutes left. Meyer ended a 9-0 run with a three and a 49-41 lead for the Pokes.

Dennis and Walker added buckets as part of 13-2 run and a 53-43 game with 15 minutes remaining. The Pokes would get into foul trouble, and the Rams would make it a 57-50 game with 11 minutes remaining. Kyle Jorgensen added a 5-0 run for the Rams and made it a 59-55 game for the Pokes with 9:50 remaining and made it two points, but a Dennis three made it 62-57.

Dennis tied his career-high with a fast break bucket for a 64-58 contest with eight minutes left. But once again the foul line came into play with the Rams cutting the game to 64-62 game with six minutes left. CSU would tie the game at the 5:19 mark and took the lead seconds later and would take the lead to 68-64 with the Pokes going scoreless for over four minutes.

Wyoming could not come as close as two points with the Rams pushing the lead to four points until the Rams moved it seven points with one minute left and would end up taking the game 79-68.

The Rams were led by Jase Butler with 18 points. Jevin Muniz added 15 points.

The Cowboys returns home on Tuesday to battle Fresno State at 6:30 p.m. in a contest on the MW Network. Tuesday's game will feature $5 tickets and free souvenir cup and fountain drink for the first 1,000 fans.
