LARAMIE, Wyoming (10/5/26) – For the first time in six weeks, the University of Wyoming soccer team returns to the Madrid Sports Complex. The Cowgirls host San Jose State on Wednesday at 3 p.m. The match can be streamed on MW+.
The Pokes are looking to bounce back from a setback, which hasn't been common this season. They fell at UC Davis, 3-2, last Friday night, which snapped a six-match win streak and was the first blemish for Wyoming on the road this season.
"I'm excited to see how we respond from the loss," head coach
Josh Purdum said. "There can be some pressure with the win streak, the ranking and being away from home. Now, that extra layer isn't there and we can breathe a little easier. We just have to button up in all the areas we fell short on."
The Cowgirls are 8-3-0 overall and 1-1-0 (3 points) in Mountain West Conference play. The Spartans sit at 2-6-2 on the season and 1-2-0 (3 points) in league action.
Alyssa Glover paces Wyoming offensively. She netted goal No. 6 this season against the Aggies, which put her at 25 career goals, and that's tied for the program record. Glover also has 16 points in 2026 and 63 for her career, which is second all-time in school history.
Maddie Burr scored her fourth goal of the season on Friday. Other multi-goal scorers this season include
Isabel Vasco (3),
Alisa Bunn (2) and
Brooke Brown (2).
Goalkeeper,
Haley Bartel, owns 27 saves with nine goals allowed for a GAA of 0.84. She has six clean sheets this year and 24 for her career, which is the program record, five clear of second place.
San Jose State is fresh off its first Mountain West win since the 2024 season. It rallied past UNLV on Saturday for a 4-1 victory.
Abigail Peterman leads the Spartans with six points on two goals and two assists. Indigo Sims and Paige Pineda Alaimus have also scored twice this season.
Keeper, Paige Fry, leads the league with 55 saves. She's surrendered 12 goals and has a GAA of 1.28. She has shut out two foes this season.
The all-time series is a 6-6-3 split. To that point, the two squads played to a 0-0 draw in the most recent meeting in 2024 in Laramie.
Following the match against the Spartans, Wyoming goes back on the road over the weekend. It travels to UNLV on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match at Peter Johann Soccer Stadium.
