DAVIS, California (10/2/26) – The University of Wyoming soccer team's six-match win streak was snapped Friday night at Aggie Soccer Field. UC Davis downed the Cowgirls, 3-2.
The loss drops the Pokes to 8-3-0 on the season and 1-1-0 (3 points) in Mountain West Conference play. The Aggies improve to 3-7-2 overall and 1-2-0 (3 points) in league action.
UC Davis built a sizeable lead quickly on Friday. Kaya Herndon scored the first during the fifth minute off a pass from Lakelee Perkins. Courtney Wagner made it 2-0 Aggies, cashing in on a penalty kick in the 12th minute.
Alyssa Glover cut Wyoming's deficit in half with a score in the 18th minute. It was her sixth goal of the season and 25th of her career, which ties her for the program record.
Kiley Ballek was credited with the assist.
It was a long time between goals, but
Maddie Burr pulled the Cowgirls back to even with a header in the 83rd minute. It was her fourth goal of 2026.
It was a short-lived leveling for Wyoming, as the Aggies scored the game's final goal just over three minutes later. Jaycee DeFazio found the back of the net off a feed from Herndon in the 86th minute.
The Pokes fired 17 shots versus UC Davis' 6. It was a decided 13-2 advantage in the second half. Burr and Glover each had five shots apiece.
Wyoming goalkeeper,
Haley Bartel, turned away three shots on Friday. Piper Wilkison started the match for the Aggies but played just over one minute before sustaining an injury. She recorded one save before Cat Pieper finished the match and made six saves.
The Cowgirls finally return home next week. They host San Jose State on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Madrid Sports Complex.
