LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (Jan. 21, 2026) – Former Cowgirl
Sadie McMullen was named an Ap-accredited alternate athlete for Team USA at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Cortina, Italy, the USA Bobsled & Skeleton (USABS) Selection Committee announced.
McMullen, from Morrison, Colo., joined USABS as a push athlete for the USA Bobsled 2024/25 World Cup team following her time as a long jump and sprint student-athlete for the Wyoming track and field team. She will join two others as alternates for the Games, just outside the three push athletes named to the Olympic team.
As an alternate, she will make the trip to Italy, practice and train with the team, but will only race in competition in case of injury or illness.
As a Cowgirl, McMullen qualified for the NCAA West First Round in the 2024 outdoor season in the long jump and competed in sprints throughout the year. She holds the No. 2 indoor and No. 4 outdoor long jump marks in school history.
The Track and Field to Bobsled pipeline is not an unfamiliar one. Of the eight athletes named to the Olympic team or as alternates, six have competed in collegiate Track and Field before their time with USA Bobsled/Skeleton. Those making the team with track and field experience were Jadin O'Brien (Notre Dame), Jasmine Jones (Eastern Michigan) and even Mountain West foes Kaysha Love (UNLV) and Azaria Hill (UNLV).
