NORMAN, Okla. (Jan. 15, 2026) – The Wyoming Cowgirls opened their 2026 slate with a split in their first two duals of the season. Wyoming opened the season with a thrilling 4-3 victory over Tarleton State before losing to No. 6 ranked Oklahoma, 7-0 to close the day.
Silver Bijlsma clinched the victory over Tarleton State to open things as she picked up a three-set win at No. 3 singles. Bijlsma won 7-5, 4-6 and 6-1 to secure the victory for Wyoming. Anastasiia Kochelaevskaia at No. 1 and Eugenia Ceinos at No. 5 also earned singles victories. Kochelaevskaia rallied to win in three sets, 2-6, 6-3 and 6-0. Ceinos won in straight sets, both by scores of 6-2.
The Cowgirls also earned the doubles point against the Texans. Wyoming won at the No. 1 and 2 doubles spots to pick up the point. At the first position, Bijlsma and Violetta Borodina won 6-3 while at No. 2, Ceinos and Dilnaz Mashabayeva claimed a 6-4 victory.
Against Oklahoma, the sixth-ranked Sooners flexed their muscles in the match. In doubles play, the tandem of Serina Abriola and Kochelaevskaia were knotted at 3-3 before the match was suspended after OU clinched the doubles point by winning matches at the first two spots. In singles, Bijlsma put up a fight, but ultimately fell in straight sets at the No. 3 position, 6-3 and 7-6 (7-2).
Next up for the Cowgirls will be their annual trip to the Tulsa Hurricane Invitational Saturday and Sunday. Wyoming will face Louisiana Tech, Southeast Missouri and host-Tulsa at the invite.
