LARAMIE, Wyo. (Sept. 29, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowboys open Mountain West play hosting the UNLV Rebels on Saturday at 5 p.m. inside War Memorial Stadium. The contest will be Homecoming for Wyoming and will also feature a Stripe Out of War Memorial Stadium.

Stripe Out

The Stripe Out is back! A Stripe Out is again being planned for our homecoming game as Wyoming takes on UNLV.  Wyoming Athletics is asking all Cowboy fans to participate in the Stripe Out of War Memorial Stadium by wearing Brown or Gold apparel based on their seat location.  Use the map to find out what to wear - all students are encouraged to wear gold.

A Tote Note: University of Wyoming freshman running back Samuel “Tote” Harris was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Freshman of the Week on Monday after recording a career-high in rushing on Saturday at Colorado. It marks back-to-back weeks that Harris has earned the honor. Harris led the Cowboys with 126 rushing yards at Colorado. It was a career-high, as he did so on 19 carries. It marked the first time a true freshman rushed for 100 yards for the Cowboys since Titus Swen rushed for 136 yards against UNLV in 2019. Harris broke open a 50-yard rush in the second quarter for the longest rush of the season for the Pokes and the longest of his career. He finished the contest rushing for 6.6 yards per carry. He leads the Cowboys this season with 256 rushing yards on the season on 37 carries. He adds 6.9 yards per rush and has one touchdown. He is averaging 64.0 yards per game rushing.

Durr Jr. is a Target: Wide receiver Chris Durr Jr. leads the Cowboys with 21 catches on the season averaging over five per game. He ranks fifth in the conference in yards per game at 72.5. He also ranks sixth in receptions per game. He has three touchdowns on the season. He caught 31 passes last season.

Blocking Kicks: The Cowboys lead the nation in blocked kicks this season with four. Wyoming has a blocked kick in each of the first four games this season. UW is one of three teams over the last 11 seasons to have four blocked kicks through the first four weeks of the season. The others were Rutgers in 2014 and Coastal Carolina in 2019. The Pokes are the only team in that stretch to have a block in each of the first four games on the season.

The Second Half: The Cowboys recorded 233 yards of total offense in the second half at Colorado. The Pokes recorded 17 points in the second frame with a field goal and a pair of touchdowns. The Cowboys also recorded 13 of the 20 first downs in the game in the second frame.

Miller Makes a Play: Cornerback Dainsus Miller forced a fumble for the Pokes in the second half at Colorado. It marked his first career forced fumble. It stalled a drive for the Buffs. It was the second forced fumble of the season for the Cowboys with Desman Hearns forcing the other.

MW Opener: The 2027 season marks the 27th season of the Mountain West Conference, and this year’s Wyoming-UNLV contest is the conference opener for the Cowboys. Wyoming is 14-12 in Mountain West openers. UW is 10-6 when opening MW play at home and is 4-6 when opening on the road. The Cowboys have won 8 of their last 12 MW openers. Wyoming is 3-0 all-time against UNLV in MW Openers with meetings in 2009, 2011 and 2019.

Been A While for UNLV: The Rebels will make their first trip to Laramie since the 2019 season.  The Wyoming offense scored on six consecutive possessions in the first half and generated 299 yards of first half offense to build a 33-10 halftime lead on way to a 53-17 home win over UNLV to open Mountain West Conference play.

Chisom Getting Pressure: Defensive end Chisom Ifeanyi added a half sack for the Pokes in the first quarter at Colorado. He also added a quarterback hurry in the contest. He leads the Cowboys this season with five QB Hurries. He has 13 sacks in his career.

Homecoming All-Time: This week’s game versus UNLV will mark the 100th Homecoming game in University of Wyoming history. Last season, Wyoming defeated Air Force on Homecoming.

From QB to Tight End: Tight end Evan Svoboda has made the full-time adjustment from quarterback to tight end this season. He hauled in a 27-yard reception against Colorado. It was the longest of his career and the longest by a Wyoming tight end this season.

Great Scott: Running back Sam Scott added a a pair of catches for 36 yards against Colorado. He added a long of 23 yards that set up a Cowboy score in the fourth quarter. He has four catches on the season for 48 yards and is averaging 12 yards per reception.

Let’s Talk About Kicking: Kicker Erik Sandvik recorded a career-high two field goals at Colorado from 28 yards and 38 yards. He is 4-of-5 in field goals this season for 80 percent.

Bart Finding Groove: Punter Bart Edmiston has punted the ball 22 times this season for the Brown and Gold. The junior college transfer is averaging 43 yards per punt this season and has six of over 50 yards and has seven kicks inside the 20-yard line.

Johnson and Johnson: The duo of Brayden Johnson, a linebacker and Andrew Johnson a safety have combined for 50 tackles this season for 20 percent of the Cowboy output this season. Johnson has 26 on the season and Johnson has added 24.

Blocking Kicks: The interior of the Cowboy defense has been causing havoc on opposing field goal unites this season. Defensive lineman in the interior with Aneesh Vyas and Ben Florentine have blocked three kicks this season. Florentine had one against Akron and Vyas adding one against Utah and one against Colorado. Vyas is tied for the lead nationally with two field goal blocks this season. He has four in his collegiate career.

Redzone D: The Cowboys rank fourth in the nation this season in redzone defense holding the opposition to 60 percent. That number also leads the MW Conference.
