BOISE, Idaho (9/25/25) – The University of Wyoming soccer team began Mountain West Conference play at Boise State. The Boas Soccer Complex has been a house of horrors for the Cowgirls lately, however, on Thursday they were able to earn a point with a 0-0 draw.
The result moves the Pokes to 5-2-3 on the season and 0-0-1 (1 point) in league play. The Broncos now possess a record of 2-3-5 overall and a conference mark of 0-0-1 (1 point).
"We feel like we could have gotten something outside of one point, but you'll definitely take it on the road in this environment," head coach
Josh Purdum said. "They do such a nice job making the game hectic and making the game competitive and physical. You'll definitely take the point, but we know we can finish in games like this, as well."
As stated, Wyoming hadn't fared well in Boise in recent memory. The Cowgirls had lost four straight – eight overall in the all-time series – with its last road result against the Broncos occurring in 2014.
Boise State held a slight edge in shots, 15-11. It took Wyoming a little while to gather itself as they nearly doubled its first half shot total of four in the second half with seven. The same can be said about corners. The Broncos had the game's first four, but then the Cowgirls had nine of the next 11.
"We were able to bend but not break in the first half, and as the game wore on, we got confident," Purdum said. "We were able to play on the front foot in the second half and play a little bit quicker once we got used to the slick surface and what they were trying to do."
Four different players fired a team-high two shots for the Pokes.
Maddie Burr,
Jennah Wanner,
Alisa Bunn and
Erin Dahl all owned a pair of shots.
Goalkeeper,
Haley Bartel, made it all stand up. She turned in her sixth clean sheet of the season and 16th of her career with five saves.
Madie Donovan led Boise State offensively with a game-high four shots. Ava De Leest made three saves for her shutout.
Wyoming remains on the road this weekend. It travels to defending conference tournament champion, Utah State, on Sunday at 1 p.m. for a match at Chuck & Gloria Bell Soccer Field.
