VERMILLION, South Dakota (9/21/25) – The University of Wyoming soccer team wrapped up non-conference play Sunday at South Dakota. The Cowgirls rallied for a 1-1 draw at First Bank & Trust Soccer Complex.
"We are happy to get a point on the road but not very pleased with the performance," head coach
Josh Purdum said. "We had very minimal shots this game and found a way to score. You only need one shot on target to give yourself a chance, but we could have been more threatening on the day."
The result moves the Pokes to 5-2-2 on the season. The Coyotes' record is now 4-2-4 on the year.
Alyssa Glover provided the equalizing goal for Wyoming in the 49th minute. She scored her sixth of the season off a feed from
Kiley Ballek. It gives Glover 14 goals for her career, and that keeps her 13th all-time in program history.
South Dakota tallied the contest's first score Sunday during the 29th minute. Klarissa Vega found the back of the net off a pass from Riley Haldeman.
The Coyotes kept consistent pressure on the Cowgirls. South Dakota fired 17 shots to Wyoming's eight, and eight of the Coyotes' shots were on target while four of Wyoming's were on frame.
Glover and Ballek led the Pokes with a pair of shots each. Four other players were credited with a shot Sunday.
Wyoming keeper,
Haley Bartel, had a busy day in net. She turned away seven shots. South Dakota goalie, Cambell Fischer, made three saves.
The Cowgirls now turn their attention to the Mountain West Conference season. It's a challenging beginning to league play, as they're at defending regular-season champion, Boise State, on Thursday before going to defending conference tournament champion, Utah State, on Sunday.
