LARAMIE, Wyo. (Sept. 10, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team opens its fall tournament slate this weekend with a trip down to Fort Collins for the CSU Jon Messick Invitational, held Friday through Sunday. This weekend will be the first of at least five fall tournaments for the Cowgirls before dual play begins in January.
In addition to this weekend's 10-team event, Wyoming will next travel to the Air Force Academy next weekend for the annual Bedford Cup September 19-21. The Mountain West Fall Individual Championships begin October 1. Beginning Oct. 7, BYU hosts the ITA Mountain Regional Championships. The final event this fall begins Oct. 23 with the Denver Invite.
Wyoming returns six letterwinners and a trio of All-Mountain West performers from a season ago. Violetta Borodina and Anastasiia Kochelaevskaia were both named to the All-Mountain West Singles Team in the spring. Meanwhile, Borodina and her doubles partner, Dilnaz Mashabayeva, were named to the All-Doubles Team.
In addition to that trio, the Cowgirls also welcome back Serina Abriola, Eugenia Ceinos and Ruby Young. A pair of newcomers will be brought into the fold in 2025-26. Freshmen Silver Bijlsma (The Hague, Netherlands) and transfer Madlena Orlova (Moscow, Russia, Chattanooga) join UW this season.
