Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Bud Denega
LARAMIE, Wyoming (8/24/25) – It took some time, but the University of Wyoming soccer team eventually overwhelmed Regis on Sunday at the Madrid Sports Complex. The Cowgirls scored a couple times late en route to a 3-0 victory over the Rangers.

The win improves the Pokes to 2-0-1 on the season. The loss doesn't count for Regis, as it was an exhibition match. It marked the Rangers' first contest of the season, which presented some challenges.

"I'm pleased with the performance, overall," head coach Josh Purdum said. "You can look at the stats and see that we need more quality in front of goal. And that's unfortunately three games we've said that in a row. We'll continue to grow into that. The biggest test was playing somebody we didn't have any scout on. So, I'm pleased for the girls to get that experience and to see a different style of organization."

Wyoming put consistent pressure on Regis for the majority of Sunday. The Cowgirls accounted for 29 shots, 10 of which were on frame, while Regis only managed three and none tested Wyoming keeper, Haley Bartel.

Alyssa Glover led in the shots department with six, and she also represented the Pokes' first goal of the game. It was the same combination that fruited a goal in the home opener Thursday. Jennah Wanner found Glover in the 11th minute, giving Glover two scores on the season and Wanner two assists.

Kiley Ballek provided Wyoming with some breathing room during the 85th minute. She redirected a pass from Glover for Ballek's second score of the season, as well. Raegan Richardson was also credited with an assist.

And it was Richardson who put the finishing touches on the victory. She headed in a cross from Hadley Linder in the 88th minute for her first goal of 2025.

Ballek recorded four shots in all. Jazi Barela came off the bench and had three, while Linder, Peyton Hunt and Kylee (Bliss) Quilici Quain each had two shots apiece.

As mentioned, Bartel didn't have to make a save for her second shutout of the year. That gives her 12 clean sheets for her career.

"You always want a goose egg on the board for the goalkeepers, and it's a full team piece," Purdum said. "She wasn't tested a ton today, but she's always locked in for 90 minutes. She deserved a clean sheet, and I'm happy for her."

Wyoming takes a week off before its next match. The Cowgirls travel to Colorado on Aug. 31 at 1 p.m. for a contest inside Prentup Field.
