COLLEGE STATION, Texas (May 28, 2025) – Senior thrower Daniel Reynolds qualified for the NCAA Track and Field Championships in the hammer throw while three others closed their outdoor seasons on day one of the NCAA West First Round in College Station, Texas, on Wednesday.

FIELD EVENTS
After a lengthy weather delay, the hammer throw kicked off the West Preliminaries. Reynolds qualified for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon, with a fourth-place throw of 223' 5" (68.10 meters). After throwing the shortest distance of the meet on his first attempt, his clutch gene kicked in. Reynolds' second toss moved him up to No. 2 before finishing in fourth after his third throw landed at 67.55 meters.

Freshman Charles LaFore closed his first outdoor season in 37th with his first throw being his best at 199' 10" (60.92 meters). His other two throws reached 59.21 meters and 60.19 meters.

In the long jump, junior Remar Pitter jumped to 23' 6 3/4" (7.18 meters) for 32nd in his first outdoor First Round. Pitter fouled on his first attempt and leaped to 6.97 meters on his second before improving for his 32nd-place jump.

Reynolds officially qualified for the NCAA Championships in the shot put following a successful protest appeal on Thursday. With a fourth-place throw of 63' 10 1/2" (19.47 meters), his only fair put of the night, he will now take on two events in Eugene.

Junior Cam Burkett just missed the Top-12 cutoff to reach TrackTown USA after coming in 14th in the shot put. Burkett began his meet by fouling on his first attempt. On his second try, he threw the shot 17.98 meters and then finished his junior campaign with a put of 61' 9 1/2" (18.83 meters).

TRACK EVENTS
Junior Jaheim Ferguson ran in the 400-meter hurdles to close his collegiate career. Running in the first heat, Ferguson took 34th overall with a time of 51.70.
