CLOVIS, Calif. (May 16, 2025) – The University of Wyoming track and field program earned four podium finishes, including a shot put title, while nine Pokes posted team points on day two of the Mountain West Outdoor Championships on Friday.

Cowboys are currently in third with 49 team points after recording 38 on the day. Cowgirls sit 10th after day two with 10 team points.

HEPTATHLON
Freshman Avery Navest scored team points in her first outdoor championships when she placed seventh with 4,800 points in the heptathlon.

Navest kicked off day two in the long jump, where she placed 11th with a leap of 16' 8" (5.08 meters) for 581 points. In the final two events of the heptathlon, she posted personal bests in the javelin throw and 800 meters. In the javelin, Navest threw to 11th again with a distance of 94' 4" (28.75 meters) for 453 points and to close, she ran a time of 2:26.44 in the 800 meters for 738 points. Her point total was just three shy of her personal best that holds the No. 3 mark in school history.

FIELD EVENTS
Junior Remar Pitter earned the first podium of the day for Wyoming in the long jump. With a jump of 24' 5" (7.44 meters), Pitter earned his first MW Championship podium with a third-place finish. He added six team points for the Cowboys.

The Cowgirls earned their first team points in the shot put since the 2022 outdoor championships thanks to senior Allyson Fertig and junior Kais Kimuli. To close her throwing era, Fertig took sixth place and added three team points with her final throw reaching a distance of 47' 9 3/4" (14.57 meters). This officially ends Fertig's Wyoming career, cementing her as one of the Cowgirl greats as a basketball star and a Top-10 shot putter in school history.

Kimuli picked up one team point with her eighth-place throw of 46' 4 1/4" (14.13 meters), coming on her first throw of the finals.

Senior Daniel Reynolds came out swinging and won the men's shot put with his first and only fair throw, sweeping the indoor and outdoor MW titles. His put of 64' 1 3/4" (19.55 meters) was a new outdoor school record and a personal best. At the time of this posting, this throw is now the No. 15 mark in the nation this season.

Junior Cam Burkett finished in second behind Reynolds with his throw of 61' 3" (18.67 meters) on his penultimate put. Freshman Charles LaFore threw to seventh with his best toss reaching a distance of 55' 9" (16.99 meters). These three Pokes earned 20 team points only with Reynolds gaining 10, Burkett with eight and LaFore securing the final two.

Also in the shot put competition was junior Gage Griffith finishing ninth in the finals with a throw of 52 1 3/4" (15.89 meters) while freshman Quinn Lindsay took 11th with his best put at 47' 5" (14.45 meters).
