Fertig Posts Top-10 Program Mark at Beach Invitational, Reynolds Extends School Record at MT. SAC Relays

LONG BEACH & WALNUT, Calif. (April 19, 2025) – The University of Wyoming track and field program finished on two podiums and recorded a women's program Top-10 shot put mark at the Beach Invitational while senior thrower Daniel Reynolds extended his hammer throw record at MT. SAC Relays, Friday and Saturday.

MT. SAC RELAYS
Reynolds took part in the men's hammer throw elite invitational at the MT. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. With a third-place throw of 236' 11" (72.21 meters), he extended his school record and posted the No. 2 mark in Mountain West history.

BEACH INVITATIONAL DAY ONE
Friday's action was all in the hammer throw. On the men's side, freshman Charles LaFore finished second in a loaded field. He picked up his best mark of 213' 8" (65.13 meters) on his third throw.

In the women's hammer throw, senior Isabella Reimann finished first for the Cowgirls with a throw of 172' 5" (52.57 meters) for 21st overall. Junior Kaitlyn Gallo threw to 40th with a distance of 159' 11" (48.74 meters) while sophomore Kais Kimuli placed 42nd with a mark of 157' 2" (47.91 meters).

DAY TWO
Senior thrower Allyson Fertig posted the lone personal best at the Beach Invitational for Wyoming. In the shot put, she threw a distance of 47' 10 3/4" (14.60 meters) for 10th, just missing out on the final. This mark is the new No. 10 in Wyoming outdoor history and is currently the No. 5 mark in the Mountain West this season.

Kimuli also threw in the shot put. She recorded a 22nd-place finish with a toss of 45' 4 1/4" (13.82 meters).

In the men's shot put, senior Cam Burkett earned the second podium of the meet for Wyoming with his third-place throw of 59' 1 1/4" (18.01 meters). Freshman Quinn Lindsay threw to 42nd with his throw of 49' 0 1/4" (14.94 meters).

Lindsay then went on to compete in the men's discus. He finished in 33rd with his best throw of 158' 11" (48.45 meters) on this second throw.

Three Pokes competed in the long and triple jump on Saturday. In the men's long jump, sophomore Christian Edwards jumped to 20th with his top leap of 22' 1 3/4" (6.75 meters).

For the women, senior Joan Easter finished 16th with her best jump at 18' 7 1/4" (5.67 meters) while junior Elayna Chafee took 21st place with her leap of 18' 4 1/2" (5.60 meters).

Chafee also jumped in the triple jump, where she placed 19th with a distance of 37' 11 1/4" (11.56 meters).

Junior sprinter Carter McComb was the only Poke to run at the Beach Invitational, with two other meets taking place during the week. He finished in 24th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.92.

Wyoming track and field will have a week off before heading south on U.S. 287 for the Doug Max Invite, Saturday, May 3, in Fort Collins, Colo.
