Pokes Break School Record at Pacific Coast Invitational

LONG BEACH, Calif. (April 17, 2025) – The University of Wyoming track and field program recorded a hammer throw program record and two collegiate personal bests at the Pacific Coast Invitational in Long Beach, Calif., on Thursday.

All results from the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., will be recapped following the meet's conclusion on Friday.

FIELD EVENTS
Senior thrower Daniel Reynolds recorded his first mark of the outdoor season with his school record-breaking hammer throw of 228' 2" (69.56 meters). This new personal best was good for second place at the meet and is currently the No. 9 mark in the country this season.

Freshman Charles LaFore came in fifth in the men's hammer with a toss of 208' 5" (63.53 meters).

In the women's hammer, junior Kaitlyn Gallo and senior Isabella Reimann finished back-to-back in 24th and 25th place. They finished with marks of 167' 9" (51.15 meters) and 167' 6" (51.05 meters), respectively, in their last throws.

The men's shot put saw junior Cam Burkett taking 6th place with his throw of 58' 3" (17.75 meters) in the final. Junior Gage Griffith finished in 20th with his toss of 52' 6 1/2" (16.01 meters) while Lindsay placed 37th with a throw of 48' 4 1/2" (14.74 meters).

The women's shot put saw senior thrower Allyson Fertig set a personal best with her toss of 45' 4 1/4" (13.82 meters), good for 19th overall. Sophomore Kais Kimuli finished in 32nd with a throw of 43' 2 1/4" (13.16 meters).

Freshman Quinn Lindsay finished in 34th place in the men's discus throw with a distance of 158' 6" (48.32 meters) in his third and final throw.

In the men's long jump, junior Remar Pitter finished 7th overall with a jump of 23' 7 1/4" (7.19 meters) while freshman Christian Edwards jumped to 18th with a distance of 22' 5" (6.83 meters).

In the women's long jump, junior Elayna Chafee came in 15th with her jump of 18' 6 1/2" (5.65 meters). Behind her, senior Joan Easter finished in 20th with a distance of 18' 4 1/2" (5.60 meters) and freshman Koi Adderley took 38th with her leap of 17' 3 1/2" (5.27 meters).

Adderley also competed in the women's high jump and finished 12th, clearing a height of 5' 3 3/4" (1.62 meters).

Chafee was the lone Cowgirl in the triple jump. She jumped to a 23rd-place finish when she reached a distance of 36' 4 1/4" (11.08 meters).

TRACK EVENTS
The first event for Wyoming in Long Beach was the men's 110-meter hurdles. Senior Jaheim Ferguson finished with a time of 14.74 for 22nd.

Junior Darius Wiggins ran in the men's 400 meters and came in 26th with a time of 49.62.
Two Pokes ran in the 100 meters. On the men's side, junior Carter McComb finished in 14th at 10.55, and for the women, freshman Megan Witkiewicz ran to a 37th-place finish, crossing the line at 12.29.

Four Cowgirls saw action in the 400-meter hurdles. The first finisher for Wyoming was junior Gabbreiella Mendoza-Molina, coming in 13th with a time of 1:02.58. Freshman Lily McDowell ran to 16th with her time of 1:03.30. Senior Gabby Drube finished with a time of 1:03.66 for 20th while senior Jenae Ramirez came in 25th at 1:05.30.

In the women's 200 meters, Witkiewicz ran a time of 24.96 for 34th while freshman Eva Dellorco finished 41st. While her time matched her personal best of 25.14, the wind came in at an illegal speed of +3.1 m/s.

To close the running events, five Cowboys took on the 200-meter dash. Sophomore Cody Hape came in 36th as the first Wyoming finisher with a time of 21.93. Freshman Bridger Norton ran to a 40th-place finish at 21.97. Freshman Bradley Ekstrom and Wiggins crossed the line back-to-back for 52nd and 53rd. Ekstrom ran a time of 22.14 while Wiggins finished with a time of 22.16. Freshman Logan Brown crossed the line 61st with his time of 22.40.

UP NEXT
Wyoming will close the Bryan Clay Invitational tomorrow, starting at 10 a.m. MT, with the women's 1,500 meters. Friday will also be the start of the Beach Invitational, running until Saturday. Action tomorrow will begin at 10 a.m. MT, on the track, and 11 a.m. MT, for field events. Saturday's events will start on the field at 11 a.m. MT, with the track opening at 11:15 a.m. MT.
