TUCSON, Arizona (3/17/25) – The University of Wyoming men's golf team wrapped up Day 1 at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate. Not all the teams completed the 36 holes scheduled for Monday at the Tucson Country Club. The Pokes did and scored a 589 (+13).
"There were difficult conditions out there today," head coach
Joe Jensen said. "So, you try to manage your mistakes, and it's that way for everybody. Pars are good. We just have to tidy some things up. I like where we are at. We played solid. We didn't play great."
The live stats program malfunctioned and was not accurate with regard to all team scores and placement in the field. Below is how the Cowboys fared through two rounds.
Kristof Panke and
Brody Leid led the way at 145 (+1). Panke opened with a 72 (E) and closed with a 73 (+1) on Monday. Panke boasted six birdies on the day.
Leid continued his strong play of late. His 145 was comprised of a 73 (+1) followed by a 72 (E) that encompassed an eagle and a half dozen birdies.
Patrick Azevedo is at 148 (+4). He recorded a 72 (E) in Round 1 followed by a 76 (+4) in Round 2. Azevedo managed to hole four birdies through 36 holes.
Jaren Calkins rounds out the scorers for Wyoming at 151 (+7). He logged a first round 74 (+2) and a second round 77 (+5). Calkins boasted four birdies on Monday.
Damon Vilkauskas is the score the Cowboys dropped at 154 (+10).
Davis Seybert, who's playing as an individual, did not have his final score on Monday recorded in the program.
The golfers who failed to finish Round 2 will do so first on Tuesday morning. The third and final round will follow.
