CHULA VISTA, California (3/10/25) – The University of Wyoming men's golf team completed Day 1 of the R.E. Lamkin Invitational on Monday. The Cowboys are tied for eighth as a team at 570 (-6) in a tournament being played at the San Diego Country Club.
"It was a good day on a good solid golf course with a great field," head coach
Joe Jensen said. "I'm pleased, and I want us to stay focus and keep doing what we are doing."
Brody Leid paces the Pokes at 140 (-4), which puts him in a tie for 20th. He fired an opening round 71 (-1) and a second round 69 (-3).
"He's sticking to a process, and he doesn't get too far ahead of himself," Jensen said. "He hit a couple big-boy shots today. Obviously, I'm pleased. He's been solid. He's a real hard worker, and he's very attentive to the game. He's playing with focus and confidence."
Kristof Panke and
Damon Vilkauskas are both tied for 38th at 143 (-1). Panke opened with a 70 (-2) and closed with a 73 (+1), while Vilkauskas carded a 71 (-1) and a 72 (E).
Jaren Calkins recorded a 144 (E) and is positioned in a tie for 46th. He was the epitome of consistency with a pair of 72s (E) on Monday.
Patrick Azevedo rounded out the scoring players, and his score of 155 (+11) was dropped. He shot an 81 (+9) followed by a 74 (+2) and shares 93rd place.
Davis Seybert, who's participating as an individual, is 95th at 158 (+14). He shot an 81 (+9) and a 77 (+5).
San Diego State leads the team standings at 553 (-23). The Aztecs' Justin Hastings is atop the individual leaderboard at 134 (-10).
With poor weather excepted, the final round Tuesday will be a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
