DENVER, Colo. (2/8/25) – Wyoming swim capped off the regular season and the final day of the DU First Chance Meet on Saturday.
Associate head coach
Kristin Walker was very pleased with how this group of swimmers performed this weekend.
"This was the last meet of the season for most of this group, so it was fun to watch them race and cap off their seasons," Walker said. "Super impressed with
Taylor Cureton who went a best time in every event she raced.
Skye Rehard,
Kane Kriz and
Savannah McVey also swam some season best times. Two of our beloved seniors,
Hannah Giles and
Emily Burchett, capped off their swim careers on a high note."
Cureton and
Ava Salverson kicked off Saturday's slate of events, going two and four in the 100-yard freestyle, logging times of 51.75 and 52.32.
Emilie Coleman and Rehard went three and four in the 200-yard breaststroke, with respective times of 2:23.51 and 2:24.30.
Cureton also had a first-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly, swimming a 55.60.
Emily Burchett came in third in the same event with a time of 56.36.
The Cowgirls took second and third in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The A relay team comprised of Burchett, Salverson,
Chayse Schierkolk and Giles, placed second on a time of 1:35.61. The B relay team entailing of
Berkeley Christensen, Cureton,
Ellie Lang and McVey swam a 1:35.76 for third.
Next up for Wyoming Swim and Dive, the Cowgirls will head to the Mountain West Conference Championships in Houston, Texas, on Feb. 19-22. The Cowboys are set to compete at the WAC Championships on Feb. 26 – Mar. 1, also in Houston.
