ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (February 27, 2025) – The University of Wyoming track and field program saw two program Top-10 times and two pentathlon personal bests on the first day of the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships, Thursday.
Wyoming's championships started with the women's pentathlon. Cowgirl freshmen
Avery Navest and
Lily Nichols competed and posted personal bests in events. Navest finished 11th overall with 3,409 points, highlighted by a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a personal best throw of 39' 9 3/4" (12.13 meters). Nichols also posted a personal best in the shot put with her throw of 27' 7 1/2" (8.42 meters) on her way to a 17th-place finish with 1,699 points.
Day one on the track was all distance. The women's 5,000 meters kicked off with two Cowgirls, senior
Kylie Simshauser and graduate
Marina Trave Ferrer. Simshauser came in 13th with an altitude adjusted time of 16:48.26 while Trave Ferrer came in 20th at 17:33.79, after conversions.
In the men's 5,000 meters, senior
Ryker Holtzen was the first Cowboy to finish with a time of 13:47.36 for 10th. Senior
Mason Norman took 13th with a time of 13:56.72 while junior
Jacob White finished 16th at 14:08.72. The last two Cowboys to finish were senior
Gus McIntyre crossing the line at 14:26.25 for 20th and junior
Dylan van der Hock in 21st with a time of 14:52.59. All times are listed after altitude conversions.
The men's and women's DMR (distance medley relay) closed Thursday's action. The event, a first for Wyoming in the 2025 indoor season, is a four-leg relay race with distances of 1,200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters and 1,600 meters. For the women, senior

Rozlyn Slichko ran to a ninth-place finish with a time of 12:01.84, after altitude conversions. This ranks as the No. 10 time in program history.

Logan Brown, junior
Tristan Knueppel and sophomore
Jake Bach fought to the finish, and edged out Colorado State, for fourth and the No. 2 time in program history at 9:50.76, after conversions.
UP NEXT
Day two of the Mountain West Championships will start at 10 a.m., while Wyoming's action for the day begins at 12:30 p.m., with the men's weight throw. Friday will hold four field events and 12 preliminary track events. The full schedule can be found
