LARAMIE, Wyo. (Dec 6, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowboys had five players score in double-figures and used 26 points off Dartmouth turnovers in a 93-80 victory on Saturday afternoon in the Arena-Auditorium. The Pokes, who struggled with illness during the week move to 7-2 on the season and move to 12-0 in non-conference home games under
Sundance Wicks.
"Gutsy performance by our guys tonight," Wicks said. "Dartmouth was relentless today and they probably thought we were down a little bit and they went after it. I was not happy with our defense in the first half. It was good to see our guys battle back. The irony of this game tonight was five guys in double-figures were some of the sickest guys and they came out ready to rock and roll. You have to learn to win in different ways and a team shot really well on us for the first time all year and we found a way to win."
Both teams shot over 50 percent from the field with the Pokes shooting 53 percent and the Big Green shooting 51 percent. Dartmouth hit 12 threes in the game and shot 48 percent, as UW was one of the nation's top teams defending the arc heading into the game. Wyoming held a 34-27 advantage on the glass and scored 54 points in the paint. The 26 points off 17 turnovers was a high in the Wicks' era of Cowboy basketball.
Guard
Leland Walker led the team with 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting. He also added four assists and recorded two steals.
Adam Harakow added 16 points on 6-of-9 from the field and added a trio of triples.
Nasir (Naz) Meyer and
Khaden Bennett added 14 points apiece. Meyer added a career-high eight rebounds and Bennett recorded a career-high five steals for the most by a Poke since Marcus Williams had seven against San Jose State in 2021.
Jared Harris added 11 points off the bench.
The Pokes opened the game with a trio of three pointers in the opening four minutes with two coming from
Simm-Marten Saadi for an early 11-8 lead. Dartmouth was just as hot from the field opening 3-of-5 with two triples.
The Pokes built a five-point lead, but the Big Green added a 5-0 run themselves and then took a 20-17 lead on their fourth three of the game. Dartmouth was 7-of-10 from the field to open the contest including four threes.
The Pokes battled back hitting four of five shots to tie the contest at 25-25 with under 10 minutes left in the half. Both teams were shooting well over 50 percent in the first 10 minutes of the contest.
Wyoming recorded a trio of turnovers and Dartmouth used the free throw line to build a 33-27 lead with five minutes eft in the half. Dartmouth went over four minutes without a basket but still held a three-point lead 35-32.
The Pokes took a 39-37 advantage on a three-pointer from
Uriyah Rojas, but Connor Amundsen added his fourth three-pointer of the half for a 40-39 lead for Dartmouth at the half.
Dartmouth opened the second half on a 5-0 run for a 45-39 lead. Dartmouth pushed the lead to as much as seven-points in the early goings of the second half opening the frame 5-of-6 from the field.
The Pokes would push to within two points on an and-one from Meyer near the 13-minute mark for a 58-56 game and took a 61-58 lead on an 8-0 run over two minutes as UW used Dartmouth turnovers and attacked the paint.
Wyoming pushed the lead to five points, but another triple by Dartmouth made it a 67-65 game with seven minutes remaining. A Harakow three-pointer off a dish from Walker gave Wyoming a 76-68 lead with five minutes left.
After a pair of flagrant free throws from
Jared Harris Wyoming moved the lead to 78-68. Harris added a fastbreak layup for a 12-point lead with under four minutes left. The Pokes cruise from there and take the 93-80 win.
The Big Green were led by Karem Thomas with 27 points going 14-of-17 from the free throw line. Amundsen added 18 points with Jayden Williams added 14 points.
The Cowboys return to action on Tuesday hosting South Dakota for a 6:30 p.m. start in the Arena-Auditorium in the final non-conference home game of the season.
