LARAMIE, Wyo. (Dec 30, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowboys used the three ball and 18-straight free throws in a 68-56 road win at Air Force on Tuesday afternoon in Clune Arena on the campus of the United State Air Force Academy. It was the first true road win for the Pokes this season, as UW moves to 10-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

"The result was right, the process was wrong," UW head coach Sundance Wicks said. "It is hard to win on the road, and it is a race to score 70 against Air Force. We have to be able to handle this league, and they had us bruised, battered and bloody. This is what this league field is like. We did some good things and defended the three-point line well, but we have to be better."

The Pokes finished the contest with 10 threes for the fifth game this season with 10 or more threes. UW was held to 35 percent from the field for the game with the Falcons shooting 50 percent, but AFA was held to 1-of-12 from the three-point line. Wyoming held a 36-25 lead on the glass with 12 offensive rebounds. Wyoming tied a season-high with 26 points off turnovers. Wyoming was 24-of-27 for 89 percent from the line.

The Pokes were led in scoring by Nasir (Naz) Meyer with 14 points in the contest. He also added a career-high six assists and had five rebounds. He was 3-of-4 from behind the arc. Uriyah Rojas added 11 points off the bench with Adam Harakow adding 13 as well, as the UW bench added 32 points on the night. Matija Belic added a career-high nine rebounds in the contest to lead all players.

The Pokes recorded three turnovers in the opening three minutes with the offense struggling to find rhythm, but Leland Walker hit a triple to give Wyoming a 3-2 advantage. Harakow added a bucket and found Meyer for a corner three with Khaden Bennett capping a 7-0 run with free throws for a 10-4 contest.

Wyoming went scoreless for two and a half minutes until Meyer knocked down his second triple for a 13-6 game with under 12 minutes left in the opening frame. Wyoming used the defensive energy on the offensive end to take a 19-8 lead with under nine minutes left in the half, but Air Force added a quick 5-0 run.

Jared Harris nailed a corner three off the inbounds and added a free throw for the four-point play to give Wyoming a 26-14 lead with under six minutes left in the first frame. Air Force went on an 8-0 run over two minutes for a 28-22 game with under three minutes left in the half.

Meyer hit a corner three as the half expired for a 36-26 lead. The two teams combined for 22 turnovers in the first half with Wyoming scoring 20 points off turnovers in the opening 20 minutes.

Air Force opened the second frame on a 6-0 run to make it a four-point game at 36-32, but Meyer stopped the run with a free throw. Air Force made it a one-point game, but a Harakow layup made it 39-36 with 15 minutes left.

The Cowboy offense went cold with eight-straight missed shots and Air Force tied the game at 41-41 with under 10 minutes left. Uriyah Rojas added a triple after a pair of free throws by Meyer for five-point lead, but an and-one by the Falcons made it a 46-44 game with under nine minutes remaining.

Wyoming held Air Force scoreless for over three minutes and Rojas added another three and a pair of freebies from Bennett and Kiani Saxon made it a 55-44 game with six minutes left. But the Pokes would go scoreless for a stretch again, but a Saxon layup made it a 57-50 game with two and a half minutes left and Rojas added a triple to push it to 10 points with under two minutes left.

Wyoming pushed the lead to 12-points, but a pair of buckets by the Falcons made it a 62-54 game with a minute left and took the first win of conference play 68-56.

The Falcons were led by Caleb Walker with 17 points and five rebounds. He was 7-of-9 from the field.

The Cowboys return to action on Saturday heading to The Pit for a showdown with New Mexico at 6 p.m. in a contest televised on CBS Sports Network.
