Cowboys Open Conference Play on Saturday Against Grand Canyon

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Dec. 18, 2025) - The Wyoming Cowboys open Mountain West Conference play on Saturday afternoon hosting Grand Canyon for a 2 p.m. start in the Arena-Auditorium. It marks the first meeting between the schools as conference foes.
 
Fans can watch, listen to the contest, as well as follow stats on GoWyo.com. The game will be broadcast live on radio over the 26 affiliate stations of the Cowboy Sports Network with Keith Kelley on the call and Kevin McKinney on Color.

About The Teams
Wyoming head into the contest with a 9-2 overall record after defeating South Dakota State by a score of 87-72 on Monday. The Pokes rank first in the conference averaging 87.9 points per game and are allowing 71.7 per night. Wyoming is shooting 49.6 percent from the field for third in the MW and hold opponents to 41.3 percent. The Pokes are shooting 36.6 percent from behind the arc and add 8.7 per game. Wyoming grabs 40.7 rebounds per game this season to rank first in the conference and No. 41 in the nation. In total, UW ranks in the top-three in 14 different statistical categories in the MW.
 
The Lopes are 6-4 overall this season and will play their first contest as members of the MW. GCU adds 74.9 points per game and scores 67.7 per night. Grand Canyon is shooting 43.4 percent from the field and holding opponents to 42.9 percent. An excellent free throw shooting team, GCU adds 16.7 per game and shoots 76.3 percent from the line. Grand Canyon adds 38.1 rebounds per game and 14.3 assists per night.
 
About The Players
Wyoming is led in scoring this season by Leland Walker at 14 points per game. He also adds a team-high 4.1 assists per game, which ranks sixth in the conference. Nasir (Naz) Meyer adds 13.5 points per game this season and adds 4.8 rebounds per game. He is shooting 53.5 percent from the field and has scored 51 points in his last two games. Khaden Bennett adds 10.5 points per game and leads the team with 5.1 rebounds per night. He is second on the team with 32 helpers on the season.
 
Grand Canyon is led in scoring by Jaden Henley at 16.6 points per game. He has made 53 free throws on the season and shoots 85.5 percent from the line. He also adds 4.5 rebounds per game. Makaih Williams adds 10.7 points per game and is tied for the team lead with 2.4 helpers per game. Caleb Shaw adds 10 points per game and has 15 made three pointers. Nana Owusu-Anane adds 9.5 points and leads the team with 9.6 rebounds per game.
 
About The Series
The Cowboys and Lopes will meet for the third time on Saturday. Wyoming is 1-1 against Grand Canyon with both teams earning wins on the road in both 2021 and 2022.
