LAS VEGAS (Dec. 17, 2025) – Cowgirls broke two school records, and the team as a whole won four events on the final day of the UNLV Invitational, Wednesday.
"Capping off the week with two school records and several more PRs was the perfect end to the semester," said head coach
Dave Denniston. "We improved every session, and our entire team found ways to elevate their performances in new ways."
At the meet, the Cowboys would finish in third with 611 team points while the Cowgirls took fourth with 539 points.
COWGIRLS
Finals action started in the morning section with the 1,650-yard freestyle. Sophomore
Macey Hansen took the win with her time of 16:29.42 while freshman
Isabelle Henderson finished fifth at 17:17.39.
In a personal-best time, freshman
Raiden Harris took third in the 200-yard backstroke. Her time of 1:58.53 was just outside the program's Top 10 list.
Junior
Tara Joyce broke her first school record of the day in the 100-yard freestyle. She raced a time of 48.56 and touched the wall first for another Cowgirl win. Joyce now holds two of the three sprint freestyle records, only missing the 50-yard freestyle in second.
Also, in the 100-yard freestyle, senior
Veronika Ozimek would finish with a time of 51.40 for sixth overall.
Senior
Ellie Fritscher placed fourth in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:03.69.
The Cowgirls closed the semester with a school record in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The crew of Harris, Ozimek, freshman
Rose Jones and Joyce with a time of 3:18.15. This beat the previous record set this season by just 0.05 seconds.
COWBOYS
In the 1,650-yard freestyle, sophomore
Isaac Lee finished in a close second, touching the wall at 15:21.69.
Freshman
Jackson Kogler picked up the Cowboys' first win of the day in the 200-yard backstroke. He would win with a time of 1:43.44, the new No. 2 time in program history.
Two Cowboys finished in the Top 8 of the 100-yard freestyle. Sophomore
Luke O'Connor took fourth with a time of 44.53 while junior
Simon Casey finished eighth at 45.93.
The Wyoming finisher in the 200-yard breaststroke was junior
Griffith Orloff in fourth, touching the wall at 1:59.57.
Junior
Adam Pannell would place second in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:47.08.
The final race of the meet saw Wyoming taking third in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Kogler, Pannell, freshman
Edward Rhoe and O'Connor finished third with a time of 2:56.11.
Denniston closed, saying, "We are excited for a break but even more excited for what's to come."

Wyoming will compete again in the new year when it travels down I-25 for the second of three meets at the University of Denver, Jan. 17.
