BOISE, Idaho (November 6, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowgirls came out of the gates firing and earned an impressive four-set road victory Thursday night at Boise State. Wyoming dominated the three sets it won as set scores went 25-17, 25-18, 20-25 and 25-16.
The Cowgirls (13-11, 9-4 MW) won the first two sets behind a high-potent offense to open the match. UW hit .375 in the first set and .323 in the second. Things were competitive in the first, as things were tied at 8-8 before a 7-2 Cowgirl ran put them in front 15-10. The Broncos would cut the Wyoming lead down to two before an 8-2 run closed things out in the frame for the Brown & Gold.
Boise State got out to an early three-point lead in the second set before the Cowgirls found their footing midway through the set. Wyoming broke a 13-13 tie with five straight points to bust things open and control things the rest of the way. After the Broncos led wire-to-wire in the third, they took an early lead in the fourth set as well. But a 6-1 run from the Cowgirls in the set turned a 10-8 deficit into a 14-11 lead. From there, Boise State would get to within two before another big UW run lengthened the lead as the Cowgirls were able to cruise down the stretch to clinch the victory.
Wyoming had three in double figures for kills, led by Sarah Holcomb's 14 on a .414 hitting efficiency. Paige Lauterwasser and Claire Wagstaff recorded 11 kills each in the win while Lauterwasser had a great all-around match, recording 12 digs for a double-double and tallying a career-high five blocks. Holcomb and Emma Winter also added five total blocks on the night while Jordan Sandy led the way at the net with seven rejections.
In the back row, Lily LaFlesch led the way with 18 digs while Skylar Erickson chipped in 13 as she moved within 35 digs of 1,000 for her career. Erickson also led the way with two aces on the night. Maddy Stucky led the offense with 27 assists against the Broncos while Sara Quigley had 17.
UW hit .231 in the win while holding the Broncos to a .141 hitting percentage. The Cowgirls out-blocked the league's number one blocking team on the night, 13-11 and had five more digs (65-60) than Boise State did, who entered the evening leading the Mountain West in digs per set as a team. The Cowgirls also enjoyed a 5-2 edge in service aces. The Broncos were allowing just .077 aces per set coming into the week.
The Cowgirls continue their road swing looking to go 2-0 on the week with a Saturday trip to league-leading Utah State. First serve is set for noon in Logan.
