Cowgirls Open Four-Match Road Swing This Week

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Nov. 4, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowgirls play the first two matches of their four-match road swing this week as they make trips to Boise and Logan. Wyoming faces Boise State at 6 p.m., Thursday before ending the week with a noon first serve Saturday against league-leading Utah State.

Wyoming (12-11, 8-4 MW) who is currently third in the league standings, is coming off a 2-0 week at home with four-set wins over San Jose State and Fresno State. Paige Lauterwasser tallied 19 digs in each match last week, averaging 4.75 digs per set in the two wins. For her efforts, Lauterwasser was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week Monday. It is the second-career player of the week honor for Lauterwasser and her first defensive player of the week nod. Lauterwasser joins teammate Sarah Holcomb, as Cowgirls to be named defensive player of the week this season (September 29).

Offensively, Lauterwasser leads the Cowgirls with 240 kills, averaging 2.67 per set while Holcomb has 225 kills this season. In conference play, the duo has 131 and 130 kills, respectively. On defense, Holcomb continues to pace the league and is one of top blockers in the country. Holcomb's 1.47 blocks per set leads the league and ranks 10th nationally. Her 132 total blocks rank fourth in the country. Skylar Erickson's 3.67 digs per set ranks seventh in the league. Erickson moved into 10th-place on the all-time career digs list in program history Saturday against Fresno State.

As a team, Wyoming is third in the Mountain West averaging 15 digs per set while its 2.67 blocks per set as a team, ranks fourth in the league. UW's .216 team hitting percentage is fourth in the conference. The Cowgirls also rank sixth in the MW in assists (11.91) and kills (12.84) per set.

Boise State ranks second in the league in assists per set, averaging 12.54 per. The Broncos are third in the league with 13.31 kills per set. Defensively, Boise State leads the Mountain West in both digs (15.14) and blocks (2.86) per set. Eliza Sharp (.315) and Layla Smith (.309) rank ninth and 10th, respectively in the league in hitting percentage. The duo ranks fifth and sixth, respectively in blocks per set in 2025 as Smith averages 1.36 while Sharp is averaging 1.34 per set. Lilli Etter ranks ninth in assists per set this season.

Utah State is the league's top offensive team, leading the Mountain West in hitting percentage (.256), assists per set (12.77), kills per (13.71) and service aces (1.63). The Aggies are led by the conference's top hitter in Tierney Barlow, who is hitting .413. Loryn Helgesen (4.02) and Mara Stiglic (3.61) rank third and sixth, respectively in the MW in kills per set this season. Kaylie Kofe's 11.46 assists per set leads the Mountain West.
