Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Nick Seeman
LARAMIE, Wyo. (Nov. 26, 2025) – The Cowboys scored 64 points in the second half and shot 67 percent from the field in the frame to  sprint past the Denver Pioneers by a score of 101-59 on Wednesday evening in the Arena-Auditorium, as UW moves to 6-1 overall and are now 11-0 in non-conference home games under head coach Sundance Wicks.

The 64 points in the second half was the most since scoring 70 in the second half against Peru State on Jan. 2, 2010.

"Life is about response," Wicks said postgame. "I challenged them to be the connected team we brought them in to be. The mission is to bring Wyoming basketball back to where we are respected. I thought the response tonight, playing a good Denver team was good and we were ready to play these guys. We are glad everyone came ready to play and everybody did."

The Pokes were led by guard Leland Walker with 16 points for his fourth-straight game in double-figures.  Nasir (Naz) Meyer added 14 points for his fourth game this season in double-figures. Matija Belic added a season-high 13 points for his second game this season in double-figures. Khaden Bennett added 14 points tied a season-high with seven rebounds. Uriyah Rojas added 13 points and led the team with a career-high eight rebounds.

Wyoming shot a season-high 56 percent from the field and the 67 percent in the second half was the best percentage in the second frame for the best since shooting 69 percent against Concordia-St. Paul in the season opener last season. Wyoming held Denver to 34 percent from the field for a season-low for a Wyoming opponent. The Pokes dominated the glass 44-31 and grabbed double-digit offensive rebounds for the seventh game this season.

After the Pioneers opened the game with a pair of buckets, Wyoming went on a 9-0 run led by an and-one play from Bennett and a trio of layups from Walker.  The Pokes held the Pioneers scoreless for over four minutes.

It would then turn into the Meyer show, as he added five points with an assist to spark a 7-0 run for a 17-6 lead with under 13 minutes left in the first half. In total the Pokes would go on a 17-2 run.

The Pokes went scoreless for nearly three minutes, as the Pioneers made it a 20-15 game. Both teams would exchange threes for a 25-18 lead for the Cowboys with under eight minutes left in the first frame.

Rojas helped the Pokes push the lead back to 10 points at 35-25 with just over two minutes left in the half. Wyoming held the Pioneers without a field goal for the final four minutes of the frame for a 37-27 lead into the half.

The Pokes opened the second half on a 6-0 run for a 42-27 lead. Bennett added a pair of buckets to spark the offense for the Cowboys. Wyoming later added 7-0 run led by solid defense and finished with a steal and fast break layup by Belic for a 50-29 lead with 16:22 left in the game.

Adam Harakow sparked an 8-0 run for the Pokes as UW hit seven-straight shots and built a 63-38 lead with 13 minutes left. Harakow knocked down a pair of corner threes off nice dishes from his brown and Gold teammates.

Wyoming would continue the pressure and would end up making 10-of-11 shots and enjoyed a 25-plus point lead halfway through the half. The Pokes would later push that lead to over 30 points.

The Pokes continued the pressure and three-pointers from walk-ons Garrett Spielman and Talan Taylor lifted the Pokes to the 101-59 win.

The Pioneers were led by Carson Johnson with 16 points. Gabe Oldham added a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Cowboys hit the road on Sunday for a trip to No. 20 Texas Tech for a 1 p.m. contest on ESPN+.
