LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Nov. 13, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowgirls used a balanced offensive attack and solid defense to earn a four-set victory on the road Thursday night at UNLV. Set scores went 25-23, 24-26, 25-21 and 26-24.
The first two sets were back-and-forth affairs Thursday, featuring a combined 19 ties and 10 lead changes. In the first, the Cowgirls (14-12, 10-5 MW) broke out to an early 15-9 lead before the Lady Rebels were able to surge in front later in the frame at 20-18. From there, facing a 23-22 deficit, Wyoming was able to finish the first with three consecutive points to take the early 1-0 lead in the match.
After UNLV was able to complete the comeback in the second set to even the match up, the Cowgirls were able to control the third set, never trailing in the frame and were able to take a two sets to one lead. In the fourth, the Brown & Gold again jumped out to an early lead, only to see the Lady Rebels battle back to take a late lead and even had multiple set points, after taking a 24-22. However, the Cowgirls showed their mettle in the late stages, ending the set and the match by scoring four consecutive points to finish off the Lady Rebels.
Addy Cook and Paige Lauterwasser led four Cowgirls with double-digit kills with 15 each in the win. Sarah Holcomb and Emma Winter added 10 kills each. Holcomb, meanwhile, continued her stellar efficiency, as she hit .455 on the night and led Wyoming with five blocks on the evening.
At setter, UW got double-doubles from both its setters as Sara Quigley tallied 25 assists and 13 digs while Maddy Stucky added 21 assists and 13 digs of her own. Quigley also had three kills in the contest. Lily LaFlesch led the Cowgirls with two service aces.
Lauterwasser led Wyoming with 18 digs against UNLV while Skylar Erickson had 16 and is now 12 away from reaching 1,000 digs for her career. LaFlesch notched 15 digs. Jordan Sandy was also strong at the net for the Cowgirls, as she recorded four block assists.
Wyoming hit .233 as a team while the Lady Rebels hit just .171. The Cowgirls also had the 9-5 edge in team blocks and recorded 15 more digs than UNLV (97-82). UNLV had seven aces and seven errors at the service line while UW had five in each category.
Next Up, the Cowgirls close their four-match road swing Saturday at San Diego State in a pivotal 1 p.m., contest. With a win, Wyoming will clinch a spot at the Mountain West Championships for the first time in the new six-team tournament era.
