LARAMIE, Wyo. (Oct. 7, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowgirls look to extend their five-match winning streak with a pair of home matches this week. The Cowgirls have a pair of tough contests this week with Utah State coming to town Thursday for a 6:30 p.m., contest. Boise State will be the opponent Saturday at noon.
Wyoming (8-7, 4-0 MW) is fresh off a pair of road wins last week, defeating Grand Canyon in five thrilling sets and New Mexico in four hard-fought sets. Sarah Holcomb led the Cowgirl attack in both matches last week, tying her career-high with 15 kills in each. Holcomb, who committed just two attack errors on the week, hit .500 in the two wins. In conference play, Holcomb leads the Mountain West with a .474 hitting percentage.
Sara Quigley, who was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Freshman of the Week Monday, led the Cowgirls with 5.56 assists and 3.89 digs per set. Quigley, who also had six kills and five service aces, recorded her first career double-doubles in both matches last week. Quigley had 24 assists and 19 digs at GCU before tallying 26 assists and 16 digs against UNM.
In all matches this season, Holcomb ranks fourth in the league in blocks, averaging 1.34 per set while Skylar Erickson's 3.67 digs per also rank fourth. Quigley's 6.83 assists per set are sixth in the league. As a team, Wyoming is second in digs with 15.14 per and is fourth in the MW in four different statistical categories. UW is averaging 12.05 assists, 13.02 kills and 2.43 blocks per set. As a team, the Cowgirls are hitting .221.
Utah State is second in the Mountain West in hitting percentage (.224) and assists per set (12.25). The Aggies rank third in the league averaging 13.15 kills per set. Kaylie Kofe leads the conference in assists per set, averaing 10.44. Mara Stiglic's 3.45 kills and 3.95 points per set, rank third and fourth, respectively in the MW. Former Cowgirl Tierney Barlow is second in the league hitting .381 on the year. USU is 4-1 in true road matches in 2025.
Boise State leads the league in numerous categories, leading the way in assists (12.47), kills (13.34), blocks (2.88) and digs per set (16.07). The Broncos are 4-2 on the road this season. Boise is balanced offensively, as five student-athletes have recorded at least 112 kills in 2025. Eliza Sharp (.310) and Layla Smith (.305) rank eighth and 10th, respectively in the league in hitting percentage. Libero Breanna Mitchell leads the MW in digs, averaging 4.33 per set and ranks fifth in the conference averaging 0.36 aces per set.
