LARAMIE, Wyo. (Oct. 31, 2025) – The University of Wyoming women's swim and dive team won a nail-biter Border War meet against Colorado State, 154-146, on Friday.
DIVE
Senior
Alicia Gonzalez opened the meet, winning the 3-meter dive with her first score over 300 at 302.25. Senior
Natalie Six came in third with a score of 222.67 points to help the Cowgirls gain an early lead.
Gonzales would also take first in the 1-meter dive with her season-best score of 258.52.
SWIM
The first event in the pool was the 200-yard Medley Relay. The Cowgirls' "A" team of junior
Tara Joyce, junior
Taylor Craft, junior
Sophie Nutter and freshman
Raiden Harris finished second with a time of 1:43.08 while the "B" team took third at 1:45.99.
Sophomore
Macey Hansen took first in the 1,000-yard Freestyle, retaining her undefeated season with a time of 10:27.80. The 500-yard Freestyle was one for the ages as the last two Mountain West champions finished neck-in-neck. Hansen came out victorious over CSU's Erin Dawson with a time of 5:02.08, just 0.06 seconds ahead.
Also in the 1,000-yard Freestyle was freshman
Isabelle Henderson, finishing third with a time of 10:39.60.
Wyoming went 1-2 in the 200-yard Freestyle with Joyce and sophomore
Avery True. They both were pushed by the third place CSU swimmer to record new season bests. Joyce touched the wall at 1:51.46 while True finished at 1:51.57.
While the Cowgirls lost some ground in the dual following the 100-yard Backstroke, Craft earned back points in the 100-yard Breaststroke. She placed second in the event with an improved time of 1:04.96.
Wyoming finished with the Top 4 places in the 200-yard Butterfly, adding 17 team points. In the fly, Nutter took first with a time of 2:07.34, sophomore
Abigail Bruss finished second at 2:07.78 and senior
Ellie Fritscher touched the wall third in 2:08.93.
Harris won the 50-yard Freestyle for a second time on the season, this time with a season best of 23.14. In the 200-yard Backstroke, Harris took second with a time of 2:05.19.
Joyce also went on to win the 100-yard Freestyle with a time of 50.38, the only Cowgirl in the Top 4.
In the 200-yard Breaststroke, Craft picked up four team points with her second-place finish of 2:24.38.
Nutter and sophomore
Taylor Cureton went 2-3 in the 100-yard Butterfly. Nutter finished with a time of 56.52 while Cureton touched the wall at 57.30.
Freshman
Sienna Hawbaker picked up a second-place finish in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:09.22. At this point, it became clear that the dual would come down to the final event, the 200-yard Freestyle Relay.
In that relay, the Cowgirl "A" team of Harris, Joyce, Nutter and Cureton went all out and dropped a season-best time of 1:32.37 for first place. The squad won by a half-second to win the dual.
UP NEXT
Both the men and the women will compete in a dual meet against Colorado School of Mines and Northern Colorado tomorrow, at Laramie High School. Diving will start at 9:15 a.m. with swimming beginning at 11 a.m.
