LARAMIE, Wyo. (Oct. 23, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowgirls avenged their loss from one week ago to Nevada Thursday night at home, besting the Wolf Pack in four sets. Wyoming won by scores of 25-22, 21-25, 25-22 and 25-16.
The first three sets were mostly competitive, despite the Cowgirls (10-10, 6-3 MW) not trailing in the first set and the second set only featuring a pair of lead changes. After the two teams split the first two sets, Wyoming was able to pull away late in the pivotal third set to take a two sets to one lead in the match. The Cowgirls broke a 19-19 tie with three consecutive points and after Nevada cut the deficit to 23-21, UW closed with kills for two of the next three points to take the frame. The fourth was all Cowgirls as they led wire-to-wire in the set to win the set and the match.
Wyoming hit .200 in the win while holding Nevada to just a .125 clip as a team. The Cowgirls enjoyed a massive advantage at the net, recording 13 blocks while the Wolf Pack had just two. Nevada edged the Cowgirls, 7-6 in service aces and had more digs on the night.
Paige Lauterwasser was sensational for the Brown & Gold Thursday night as she tallied a team-best 14 kills and hit .444 in the win. Lauterwasser also notched a career-best 20 digs on the night to lead the way. Sarah Holcomb also finished with double-digit kills as she had 12. Holcomb also paced the match with seven total blocks. Claire Wagstaff added six blocks of her own while Jordan Sandy tallied five.
At setter, Sara Quigley led UW with 22 assists while Maddy Stucky had 17. Skylar Erickson had seven from her libero position and notched 16 digs in the victory. Lily LaFlesch also reached double figures in digs with 11. Six different Cowgirls recorded an ace on the evening.
Next up, Wyoming looks to make it three in-a-row as it travels to Colorado State for round two of this season's Border War with the Rams. First serve is set for noon Saturday in Fort Collins.
