LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Oct. 23, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowboys will be represented at Old Trapper Mountain West Media Day on Thursday by head coach
Sundance Wicks along with seniors
Matija Belic and
Leland Walker. The event is taking place at Resorts World on the Las Vegas Strip.
The Cowboys will be live on the Mountain West Network at 9:20 a.m. The trio will be doing interviews all morning with local and national media, as the team will head back for their exhibition contest with College of Idaho on Saturday.
Belic appeared in 22 games last season with 16 starts for the Brown and Gold and missed the early portion of the season with an injury. He added 5.6 points per game and 3.1 rebounds. He shot 41.9 percent from the field and added nearly an assist per game. He scored in double-digits three times with a career-high 13 points coming at Air Force. He was 6-of-8 from the field in that game and added five rebounds along with two blocks and two steals. He added 12 points against both Bellarmine and San Diego State. He added a career-high seven rebounds against New Mexico.
Walker, a transfer from Florida Atlantic has scored over 1,000 career points. Last season he started 33 games. He averaged 9.2 points per game along with 2.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. He scored a season-high 20 points at Central Florida. He had 14 games with five or more assists. As a sophomore at Eastern Kentucky, Walker was named First Team All-ASUN at 15.4 points per game with 2.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists.
Wyoming was picked to finish ninth in the Mountain West Preseason Poll released on Thursday morning. San Diego State was picked to win the league with 26 first place votes. Utah State was picked to finish second followed by Boise State, Grand Canyon and New Mexico wrapping up the top five. UNLV was picked sixth followed by Colorado State, Nevada and Wyoming. San Jose State was picked tenth followed by Fresno State and Air Force.
Miles Byrd of San Diego State was named the Preseason Player of the Year. Brian Moore of Grand Canyon was named Preseason Newcomer of the Year with Elize Harrington named the Preseason Freshman of the Year.
San Diego State had three players named to the Preseason All-MW team headlined by Byrd. Grand Canyon had two players on the team followed by a player from Boise State, Nevada, New Mexico, UNLV and Utah State.
