LARAMIE, Wyo. (Oct. 21, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowgirls will have a home-and-road split this week for the first time this season. The Cowgirls will host Nevada at 6:30 p.m., Thursday and will travel for round two of the Border War Saturday at Colorado State beginning at noon.
Wyoming (9-10, 5-3 MW) split last week's matches, both on the road. The Cowgirls lost in five at Nevada to open the week and rebounded with a four-set victory at Air Force Saturday night. Claire Wagstaff led the Cowgirls with 22 kills in last week's matches and hit an efficient .419 for the week.
Sarah Holcomb recorded 13 total blocks last week and now has 108 for the season. That mark leads the Mountain West and is fourth-best in the country. Holcomb's 1.44 blocks per set this season are tied for second in the league and ranks 13th nationally. Holcomb's .343 hitting percentage in 2025 is third-best in the conference. Offensively, Paige Lauterwasser leads UW with 194 kills and 2.59 kills per set this season. Lauterwasser is one of five Cowgirls that have at least 99 kills this season.
As a team, Wyoming ranks fourth in the league in team hitting percentage (.219) and team blocks per set (2.61). The Cowgirls' 14.60 digs per set ranks fifth in the Mountain West. UW is sixth in the league in both assists (11.72) and kills (12.67) per set.
Nevada, who just played Wyoming last Thursday in Reno, is led by Haylee Brown's 3.41 kills per set, which ranks sixth in the league. Brown's 3.62 points per set are ninth-best in the Mountain West. Audrey Jensen is seventh in the conference averaging 6.76 assists per set while in the back row, Kinsley Singleton's 3.48 digs per set are eighth in the MW. As a team, the Wolf Pack rank second in the league in team service aces, averaging 1.53 per set in 2025.
Colorado State ranks in the top half of the league in most statistical categories this season. The Rams are second in the MW in team hitting percentage (.239) and ranks tied for second in opponent hitting percentage (.185). CSU's 11.94 assists and 12.97 kills per set both rank fifth in the conference while its 2.67 blocks per set are third best in the league. Individually, Erin Debiec is second in the league averaging 9.71 assists per set while Kekua Richards' 1.44 blocks per also ranks second in the conference. The Rams have been balanced offensively this year, as five student-athletes have recorded at least 130 kills in 2025. CSU is led by Eve Wilson's 193 and 2.80 per set. Wilson is also hitting .253 on the season.
