LARAMIE, Wyoming (10/21/25) – The University of Wyoming soccer team closes the book on its regular-season road match schedule this week. The Cowgirls travel to New Mexico on Thursday for a 7 p.m. match at the UNM Soccer Complex before going to San Diego State on Sunday for a 1 p.m. contest at the SDSU Sports Deck.

The Pokes are fresh off their idle weekend. They only competed in one match last week, drawing at Grand Canyon, 1-1, on Thursday prior to being off on Sunday. Head coach Josh Purdum hopes that the combination of a solid performance on the road and a competition-less weekend will prove beneficial going forward.

"If (the Grand Canyon match) is any indication on how we can play on the road, then we are in good shape," Purdum said. "Hopefully, we can start the week off on a strong note, go into New Mexico and replicate our performance (at Grand Canyon), which I thought was really positive."

With just three matches left to play, each one is magnified. Wyoming sits at 7-4-5 overall but more importantly it's 2-2-3 (9 points) in Mountain West Conference action. That positions the Cowgirls in a tie for eighth, and the top six in the final standings advance to the conference tournament.

The Lobos are tied for third at 7-3-5 overall and 3-1-3 (12 points) in league action. The Aztecs – who play at Colorado State on Thursday – sit at 6-4-5 overall and are tied with the Cowgirls at 2-2-3 (9 points) in conference play.

Alyssa Glover paces the Pokes and conference with 10 goals and three assists for 23 points. Kiley Ballek has chipped in three goals and two assists for eight points.

Haley Bartel continues to play strong in net, owning 50 saves with 12 goals allowed for a GAA of 0.75. That ranks her second in the Mountain West Conference.

New Mexico enjoys a two-headed scoring attack. Nicole Anderson and Alejandra Puerto have each found the back of the net seven times this season, which ties them for second in the league.

Alyson Campbell has received the majority of the starts at goalkeeper. She possesses 47 saves with nine goals surrendered for a GAA of 1.04.

San Diego State is led by Victoria Miller who has registered five goals. Kailey Carlen has started every game in net and turned away 51 shots with 20 goals allowed for a GAA of 1.33.

The Lobos lead the all-time series with the Cowgirls, 20-9-8. Each of the last two meetings ended in a draw.

The Aztecs hold a 19-7-3 lead over the Pokes all-time. The two squads tied last year, 3-3, in Laramie while San Diego State took the last meeting in San Diego, 5-1, in 2023.

Following the trip to play the Aztecs, Wyoming closes out the regular season at home. The Pokes host Colorado State on Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. at the Madrid Sports Complex.
