PHOENIX, Arizona (10/16/25) – The University of Wyoming soccer team is hunting points with just a couple weeks of the regular season remaining. The Cowgirls got what they were looking for, to a certain degree, Thursday night at the GCU Soccer Stadium.
The Pokes tied Grand Canyon, 1-1. The result moves Wyoming to 7-4-5 on the season and 2-2-3 (9 points) in Mountain West Conference play, while the Antelopes are now 8-6-1 on the year and 3-3-1 (10 points) in league action.
"It was kind of a strange one because we walked into halftime feeling like we were winning," head coach
Josh Purdum said. "We controlled a lot of the game, created a lot more chances and gave ourselves an opportunity to put some things away and didn't early. They took their one chance and did. At halftime the mood was great, we knew we were going to get one, it was just a matter of when."
Hadley Linder made her first start in nearly two months Thursday because of injury. She made good use of it with her first goal of the season.
Linder headed in a set piece from
Alyssa Glover in the 62nd minute, which leveled the contest, 1-1. It was Glover's third assist of the season, as her Mountain West leading point total is now at 23.
"When (Linder is) playing, we know she's going to be involved in goal scoring as well as big defensive moments," Purdum said. "That's why she continues to earn the starting position. She finds a way to get involved and comes up in big moments."
The goal leveled the game following the Antelopes' 24th minute score. Reese Clem found the back of the net off a pass from Hannah Smith, which gave the match its first score.
Wyoming dominated in the shots department, 26-10, however, only held a 10-5 edge in shots on target.
Kiley Ballek possessed the most shots with six, while Glover had five and both Linder and
Jennah Wanner owned four apiece.
Haley Bartel turned away four shots in net for the Pokes. Grand Canyon goalkeeper, Emma Knack, made nine saves.
Wyoming is off this weekend before remaining on the road the following week. The Cowgirls travel to New Mexico on Oct. 23 prior to a game at San Diego State on Oct. 26.
