LARAMIE, Wyoming (9/19/24) – The University of Wyoming soccer team let a lead slip away Thursday at the Madrid Sports Complex. Oregon State rallied for a 2-1 win, scoring twice in the final six minutes of the game.
The win improves the Beavers to 2-6-0 on the season. The loss drops the Cowgirls to 2-3-2 on the year.
Raegan Richardson provided the scoring for Wyoming. She headed in her first-career goal in the fourth minute off a corner kick from
Hadley Linder.
Oregon State's Carly Carraher leveled the contest at 1-1 in the 85th minute. She found the back of the net unassisted.
The Beavers took the lead just over three minutes later. McKenna Martinez scored off a pass from Katie Godden during the 88th minute.
Wyoming edged Oregon State in the shots department, 17-16. Cowgirl keeper,
Haley Bartel, made three saves, while the Beavers' goalie, Mya Sanchez, turned away six shots.
Wyoming takes to road to close out non-conference play. The Cowgirls travel to Weber State on Sunday for a 1 p.m. contest at Wildcat Soccer Stadium.
