LARAMIE, Wyoming (9/13/24) – The University of Wyoming soccer team hosts South Dakota on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Madrid Sports Complex. It's a day jam packed with special events, as it's Alumni Day and Senior Day.

Six Cowgirls are set to be honored. Alyssa Bedard, Taylor Brook, Jazi Barela, Kylee Holstad, Gabby Clutter and Maddi Chance will be recognized after the match.

"This weekend is an opportunity to show thanks and honor the players that have given so much to their community, UW athletics and the soccer program," head coach Josh Purdum said. "These six have made an incredible impact with their leadership and experience ever since I've been here."

The aforementioned six have been a part of many high points. They were all present and helped the team seize a Mountain West Conference regular-season crown in 2022 and played for a conference tournament title that same year, as well.

Bedard and Chance have vaulted up the program's all-time goals list, sitting just outside the top 10, with 14 scores. Brook and Holstad have combined to log more minutes than any other duo on Wyoming in the last two seasons. Barela was second on the squad in goals a season ago and Clutter provided the most thrilling goal this season, scoring in a 1-0 exhibition win at No. 3 BYU.

"It's obvious why they have gained the respect of their teammates through their quality of work and character," Purdum said. "I will forever be grateful for how they have treated me and my family since I've been here and for the legacy they will leave in this program."

The Cowgirls enter Sunday's match at 1-2-2, fresh off an unbeaten week where they shutout Northern Colorado, 2-0, and tied Montana, 3-3. Both Bedard and Chance each logged a brace, becoming the first-ever duo to record a brace in back-to-back games against Division I foes. Bedard paces Wyoming with three goals and an assist for seven points this season, while Chance sits at four points.

Goalkeeper, Haley Bartel, who has started all five games for Wyoming, boasted her second-career shutout against the Bears. She lays claim to 28 saves with 11 goals allowed for a GAA of 2.20.

South Dakota is 2-4-2 overall. The Coyotes are led by Ashby Johnston who has three goals and one assist for seven points to her name. Cambell Fischer has started fives games and has 20 saves with seven goals allowed for a GAA of 1.40.
 
Wyoming leads the all-time series with South Dakota, 5-2-1. The two squads tied last year, 3-3, in Vermillion.

Following the game against the Coyotes, the Cowgirls remain home and host Oregon State on Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Madrid Sports Complex.
