INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The NCAA Division One Men's and Women's Track & Field Committee has announced the participants for the 2024 NCAA Championships First Round competitions with ten Cowboys and Cowgirls making the cut.
These ten student athletes will represent Wyoming in Fayetteville, Ark., next week on May 22nd through the 25th. The qualifiers from both the east and the west will meet at the 2024 National Championships set to take place in Eugene, Ore., June 5th through the 8th. The top 12 competitors from each region will move on.
Cowboys
Cam Burkett in the Shot Put.
Jaheim Ferguson in the 400M Hurdles.
Ryker Holtzen in the 5000 and the Steeplechase.
Mason Norman in the 10000.
Daniel Reynolds in the Hammer Throw.
Albert Steiner in the Steeplechase.
Cowgirls
Eowyn Dalbec in the 10000.
Gabby Drube in the 400M Hurdles.
Salma Elbadra in the 1500.
Sadie McMullen in the Long Jump.
Highlights
Daniel Reynolds is coming off of two podium finishes at the 2024 Mountain West Championships. Reynolds finished second in both the Hammer and Shot Put at the Conference Championships and took down a 25-year old Wyoming record in the Hammer Throw this season.
Salma Elbadra broke the school record in the 800 this season and earned a podium in California at the MW Championships. Elbadra sits at No. 2 all time at UW in the 1500 and earned the win over the field at the MW Championships.
Ryker Holtzen owns the top time in Wyoming history in the 3000M Steeplechase. Holtzen bested the field to earn the win last weekend in Clovis, Calif., at the MW Championships.
Jaheim Ferguson rounds out the field heading to Arkansas as podium finishers at the MW Championships. Ferguson ran a personal best 51.32 in the 400 Hurdles to take third place and earn his place at the First Rounds.
Gabby Drube improved on her 400 Hurdles all season long and ran her personal best 58.39 in Fort Collins, Colo., and ranks No. 3 all time at Wyoming with that performance.
Cam Burkett moved up to No. 4 in the Wyoming record books with his best performance of the season at 62-0.25 in the Shot Put.
Eowyn Dalbec ranks No. 2 all time at Wyoming with her 33:50.10, just half a second off the top spot.
Albert Steiner ranks No. 6 all time in the Steeplechase with his personal best time of 8:48.43.
Sadie McMullen has been in the Wyoming record books for a few years. McMullen ranks No. 4 all time with her 20-6.25.
Mason Norman sits 31 seconds off the top spot in the 10000 and in third with his best of 28:51.31.
